Today we’d like to introduce you to Jon Cardenas Mora.
Every artist has a unique story. Can you briefly walk us through yours?
My journey as a photographer started around the age of (12) twelve. I still remember that warm morning in Merida – Venezuela when I discover the astonishing experience of feeling the emotional reactions of people after seeing a memorable moment tattooed on a printed picture, that authentically marked my heart and mind. Since then and in different times, I have tried many ways, observing and feeling shapes, textures, nature, cultures, anger, sadness, hope, love, light, and freedom. The streets of places have introduced me to many masters, individuals that I must thank, because of them, I embrace the beauty and the importance of the many times transformational messages hidden in an image. During my process as a photographer, I have created content for digital influencers, well know journalists, artists, musicians, nonprofits, tv shows, clothing & watches brands, recognized marketing agencies and also have taken pictures that have become symbols of hope & freedom for my country in this difficult moments.
Please tell us about your art.
I’m plugged to storytelling, fine art, street photography, portraits, and landscapes, I always look for symmetry & emotions on different sceneries trying to get as close as I can to the soul of my subject, and the story envisions by both them and my self. I believe that the deeper you get to peoples imagination, the closer you’ll capture what will indeed feed their satisfactory needs. I want to share with the ones who give me the opportunity to create with, a happy, fun, and thoughtful experience.
Given everything that is going on in the world today, do you think the role of artists has changed? How do local, national, or international events and issues affect your art?
The role of an artist is beyond creation, that actually is just the beginning of the responsibility. The art results have the power of transforming minds, and once you inspire a mind you can build or destroy a reality, therefore; I believe that an artist must create with the compromise of helping others to value and respect: humanity, nature, hope, love, light, and freedom.
