Today we’d like to introduce you to Sheldon Williams.
Sheldon, please share your story with us. How did you get to where you are today?
I started tattooing in May 2009, purely trying to make money to fund previous dreams of being a music producer. During that time frame, I was a rebellious 16-year-old, thinking about rocking the latest clothes and shoes. There were many bad influences. The feeling of knowing something bad can ultimately happen to me too. I could do that to my mother, so I had to find a way. Especially after losing friends to that lifestyle, I just couldn’t. My father (Cue) started tattooing and opened a shop and he always promised me I could get a Benz by 17, so I made the decision to tattoo.
It was hard in the beginning, I didn’t start making enough money to buy studio equipment until a year later. By that time, I pretty much was so focused on becoming an artist. There wasn’t much guidance and I didn’t know of any other tattoo shops. So, over the years, I would take up little pieces of everyone’s styles from the artist who works in the shops. Year three, I started traveling and working around others who were on higher levels. That year, I also lost my mother to cancer and I was so lost after my mom passed I didn’t tattoo for a year. Then, stumbled into the teachings of The Honorable Elijah Muhammad through Malcolm X, which taught me to get back up and become SELF-SUFFICIENT. 2015, I ended moving to ATLANTA, GA where I was mentored by my Brother @RogerParrilla, which took my career to ANOTHER LEVEL. It was great, the parties, the people, the ART OMG… I started reinventing myself again From being Scooter to Sheldon to being Sheldon X.
Fast forward to 2019, the sky is the limit. I’m still on the mission of getting better at being a HUMAN BEING. Working on expanding my brand outside of just being an Artist and more of a businessman as well. Also, realized that people who lived in the communities where I’m from need opportunities. There’s tons of great artist in the nation who are starving and I would love to help change their reality as my Father did for me. So, right now, I’m working on opening a new shop and will be looking to train a new artist.
Has it been a smooth road?
Definitely not, the biggest struggle for me has been returning to social life after isolating myself, time after time, for growth. Becoming more self-disciplined.
We’d love to hear more about your work.
I’m just a simple tattoo artist/businessman. I specialize in portraits, color tattoos, and black & grey work. I draw most of my work BASED OFF PRICES. Also, I’m a credit repair consultant and educator.
I’m most known for my intelligence and fearlessness to obtain a goal.
As a Creative, I think what I am most proud of is the fact that I’m still going and able to make a living with my craft. I believe that what sets me aside from many is my duality between business and art, merging the left and right brain on higher levels and then being able to express it, whether it’s at the tattoo shop or in conversation.
What is your favorite childhood memory?
My favorite childhood memory is hanging out with family at the beach with the bucket of KFC, a cooler with quarter juices, sodas, and Caprisuns. chasing everyone with super soakers and being buried in the sand.
