Meet Kelly Merbler

Today we’d like to introduce you to Kelly Merbler.

Kelly, let’s start with your story. We’d love to hear how you got started and how the journey has been so far.
It all began with an idea. You see, I became detached from my true self after working in a corporate role for many years. I forgot who I really was, and like so many others, I lost my identity. Until one day, I found my SUPERPOWERS (thanks to StrengthsFinders and the best mentor ever!). They have always been within me, but I wasn’t using them. The time had come to reinvent myself!

I have always been a loyal person, so I campaigned for a year to build my dream job within the company that I spent so many years devoting myself to, but no one would hire me. So when my dream job wasn’t hiring, I decided to build my dream job and hire myself!

Has it been a smooth road?
Nothing worthwhile in life will ever be a smooth road. It will come with potholes, speed bumps, and detours along the way to test if we really want it that bad. One of my struggles was starting from ground zero after working in a corporate career for 21 years and knowing a routine and what to expect. When you are in a corporate environment you have departments you can lean into for support such as accounting, IT, marketing, etc but when you go out on your own most entrepreneurs start with just themselves and have to do everything to get the business off the ground and profitable at first. I had so many ideas and things I wanted to create, but you can’t always get what you want because you don’t have the budget for it yet.

Please tell us more about your work, what you are currently focused on and most proud of.
I am a Leadership Consultant. I help organizations develop their leaders and build cultures of high engagement. I do this through Executive Coaching programs, Leadership Development Programs, and Keynote Speaking. I think what sets me apart is that I have had the “in the trenches” experience of going from an individual contributor to a leader of teams and I know what comes with that, both successes and challenges. I have walked the walk and can relate to leaders who lead teams and I can also relate to employees who crave good leadership when they don’t have it.

What I am most proud of my company is that I started it just over two years ago now after walking away from a six figure paycheck and it has been steadily building over those two years. I saw what I could create and the need for it in the market and I just took a leap of faith because I would rather try than have regrets later in life. I am so proud also that I landed my first Fortune 500 consulting engagement finally!!!

I am also proud that during COVID19 I finished a project that has been on my list for two years and I have my first inspirational product. I love to write motivational quotes and I now have my very own quote deck to inspire people who are stuck in their journey. https://www.kellymerblerco.com/shop

Life is too short and I deserve to give myself a chance.

How do you think the industry will change over the next decade?
Yes, I think we are going to see a big trend up in leadership development and coaching. The crisis has revealed what many companies are made of and what leaders are made of. As an Executive Coach, I speak to a lot of employees and know what is going on inside organizations and some have handled this crisis beautifully with grace and some have clearly shown that people are not their priority. Culture is key and culture begins with great leaders. My gift is helping companies build great leaders so the need is there.
