Today we’d like to introduce you to Kristi Bachan.
Hi Kristi, it’s an honor to have you on the platform. Thanks for taking the time to share your story with us – to start maybe you can share some of your backstories with our readers?
Originally from Trinidad & Tobago, I moved to Melbourne, Florida in 2005 with my family. I remember I was 17 years old and didn’t fully understand the huge opportunities ahead of me. I was just sad to leave my friends and my life in Trinidad at the time. After wrapping up the last year of high school, I went after my degree in Graphic Design at the Art Institute of Fort Lauderdale, so I moved to South Florida.
I worked in the logistics industry, bartended, and did freelance design gigs to support myself. I also volunteered at Rising Up Gallery, an awesome organization that supports artists with disabilities. Rise Up really helped me find a balance in life I didn’t know I needed. Working and making money is cool but I realized having community and purpose is so important.
Once I graduated with my BA, I was hired as the Creative Director for a top real estate broker in Miami Beach and was encouraged to get my real estate license. This was one of the pivotal points in my life as it started my career in real estate. I went on to become Director of Luxury Rentals, managing some of the most exclusive waterfront rental homes in Miami Beach and growing a really amazing network.
In 2018, I formed my company Inhabit Luxury which focuses on luxury sales, rentals, and vacation rental management in Miami. I am also a crypto-certified agent, educating my clients on blockchain technology in real estate. I earned my yoga certification in 2018 as well, which was another one of those pivotal points in my journey.
Yoga completely transformed my life and continues to be my greatest teacher. I’ve found my purpose in helping others through real estate, yoga, retreats, travel groups, and community events that I curate such as Higher Self and the Miami Adventure Sports community group. I am very grateful for my journey, through all of the highs and lows.
I’m sure you wouldn’t say it’s been obstacle-free, but so far would you say the journey has been a fairly smooth road?
I don’t think any of us have a smooth road, no matter where we come from. If it was easy, life would be boring right? I can’t count how many obstacles I’ve faced, but I feel like every struggle had a blessing attached to it. I didn’t have any family with me for support during some of my most difficult years, and it was really challenging to find the right community in Miami.
I was truly blessed with special people along the way who came into my life and became family. A big step was overcoming self-doubt and being fearless when making decisions about where I wanted my life to go. Fear, I think, is something that holds us all back from living at our highest potential.
Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
I am an entrepreneur who loves to be creative, help others and build community. Two of my greatest assets are my network and my integrity. These translate into every business or project that I am involved in.
My main business is Inhabit Luxury, a real estate and luxury vacation rental management company through which I’ve provided top-tier service to my clients for over 8 years in Miami. I approach real estate in a holistic way. It’s not just selling or renting a house, it is helping my clients create their best lifestyle.
I also curate wellness events, retreats, and group travel experiences under Inhabit International. Intertwining my love for yoga, travel, and adventure sports have allowed me to build a beautiful community and help others to find theirs. It is something I am really passionate about because I know what it feels like to get lost in the noise of Miami.
Our city has so many amazing communities that I wish I knew about when I first moved here. I believe if you put yourself out there and express your interests, you’ll be surprised how many amazing people you attract to your life.
When I first opened an Instagram account so many years ago, I subconsciously chose the name KristiCreates. That has kind of become my personal brand and nickname amongst friends. I think we are all constantly creating, making decisions, and designing our lives.
What do you think about happiness?
Besides my dog? haha. She’s great, I love her. My relationships in my life are definitely a big factor when it comes to happiness. I’m really blessed with very special friends and family. On the flip side, being completely alone with nature truly makes my soul happy.
I think it is because it is the only time my mind gets to be clear and I am able to truly appreciate everything. Fresh snow on a mountain, crashing waves in the ocean, and even the scorpion that crosses my path in the jungle. It creates awareness and gratitude on a whole new level and I love it.
