Jose, please share your story with us. How did you get to where you are today? In 1995, we started providing two-way radio sales, service and repairs to the general industry in the greater Miami area.
Sometime during the end of the 90’s, a company by the name of Nextel began offering their two-way radios with cellphone integrated and we knew then that the era of two-way radios was close to the end. This was later aggravated by the decrease of cellphone rates due to the competition factor, which kept on shrinking the two-way radio sales and service market.
It was then that we decided to explore new areas that would allow us to keep a presence on the two-way radio market (communications), while developing a new field. After some hit and misses, we focused on the CCTV market (surveillance) and in 2004 we evolved from Communication Services to Communications and Surveillance, Inc. (ComSurv for short).
Even though we started accepting all kinds of customers and accounts, it was not long that we decided to focus in commercial and industrial accounts, steering clear of residential, which gave us countless headaches. During the process, we closed many contracts with HOA’s, retailers, hospitals, hospitality and government. Business was good, but we felt we had the potential for more: We wanted to go national.
A few years ago, we received a call from a previous satisfied customer that was director of engineer of a large area hotel and was now the director of operations in a renowned shopping mall whose security camera system was in disarray and was in dire need of good, reliable service.
The work we performed in this property placed us in the spotlight with the mall’s owners, which happened to be one of the largest commercial real estate companies in the US and one of the 10 largest in the world. Now we participate in all of this company’s security system bids throughout the entire US.
We have been honored and Blessed to have been awarded projects from San Diego to Boston and from Miami to Seattle and everything in between, and pray that we continue our path, always with the Grace of God!
We’re always bombarded by how great it is to pursue your passion, etc. – but we’ve spoken with enough people to know that it’s not always easy. Overall, would you say things have been easy for you?

So, let’s switch gears a bit and go into the ComSurv story. Tell us more about the business. We are known for our state of the art systems, and unmatched service. I am most proud of our employees and associates, who take extreme pride in their work and don’t waiver until the job is finished.
What sets us apart from the others is our integrity, professionalism and honesty.
Has luck played a meaningful role in your life and business? I don’t believe luck has been a factor in my business. God has placed us in the right place, at the right time, and with the right product and service to satisfy an existing need.
