We’re looking forward to introducing you to Tingting Wu. Check out our conversation below.
Tingting, a huge thanks to you for investing the time to share your wisdom with those who are seeking it. We think it’s so important for us to share stories with our neighbors, friends and community because knowledge multiples when we share with each other. Let’s jump in: What are you most proud of building — that nobody sees?
I’m most proud of building an entire artistic world behind LumiMusic (previously known as ColorMusic, www.colormusicshow.com) that few people truly see.
While audiences enjoy the immersive experience of music and light onstage, what people don’t see is the invisible architecture behind it—every storyline I write, every color I match to a musical phrase, every logistical detail I solve on my own. Few realize the months filled with invisible hours and work, long nights designing colors to align with the music, and countless hours editing videos, running marketing, and managing production—all while teaching and performing to financially sustain the LumiMusic project.
LumiMusic isn’t just a show. It’s a movement I’ve built without investors, without an agent, and without major backing—just vision, discipline, and an unshakable belief that classical and piano music can still reach the modern heart, if presented in a way that connects emotionally and visually.
What no one sees is the solitude of carrying this dream largely on my own—but also the pride of knowing it is worth every sacrifice, since I know this is what I want to do, and I am doing a great thing for our society, and for the world.
Can you briefly introduce yourself and share what makes you or your brand unique?
My name is Tingting Wu—I’m a professional concert pianist, piano educator, and the founder of LumiMusic.
LumiMusic is a series of innovative piano shows that blend live piano performance with expressive colored lighting to awaken and inspire the audience’s emotions and imagination. The lighting shifts in real time with the emotional arc and atmosphere of the music, creating a truly immersive and unforgettable experience for each listener.
We currently present monthly performances in Brickell, Miami, and are planning future expansions to New York City, Los Angeles, and—in a few years—to Europe.
Our new LumiMusic season opens September 27th, 2025 in Brickell, Miami. More details are on www.colormusicshow.com.
Amazing, so let’s take a moment to go back in time. Who were you before the world told you who you had to be?
I was an innocent, curious girl who always wanted to swim like a fish or run freely through the parks. Music found me early, and I was placed on a rigorous professional path—strictly trained to become a concert pianist. After decades of dedication, I earned my doctoral degree in piano performance from the University of Miami with full scholarship and stipend.
But instead of following the world’s expectations for someone with my background—like becoming a college professor or teaching classical repertoire the same way for life—I made a different choice.
I founded LumiMusic —a series of innovative concerts that blend live piano performance with expressive colored lighting. It’s a movement that invites people to feel music with their whole hearts. I guide audiences to see and feel their emotions and imagination through music and colored lighting—to reconnect with themselves.
If you could say one kind thing to your younger self, what would it be?
I would tell her:
“Always believe in yourself. You have no idea how brilliant you can become—even just three years from now.”
There will be moments when things feel uncertain or slow, but don’t lose faith. Keep going. Keep hope in your heart. You are meant to be exceptional—not by following others, but by trusting your instincts and honoring your gifts.
Your talent will touch lives. Your vision will create something the world has never seen. And most of all—you are meant to help society and the world become a better place through your gifts in music and color.
I think our readers would appreciate hearing more about your values and what you think matters in life and career, etc. So our next question is along those lines. What’s a belief or project you’re committed to, no matter how long it takes?
I’m committed to building LumiMusic—not just as a concert series, but as a movement that reconnects people with emotion, imagination, and beauty through music and color.
No matter how long it takes, I will continue developing this vision until LumiMusic becomes a globally recognized platform that redefines how people experience classical and piano music. I believe music should not only be heard, but felt and seen.
This isn’t just my career—it’s my life’s work, because I know it has the power to heal, to awaken, and to inspire.
Okay, we’ve made it essentially to the end. One last question before you go. If immortality were real, what would you build?
If immortality were real, I would build a legacy that gives people the chance to rise.
I want to create a foundation that supports those who carry dreams in their hearts and goodness in their character—people who strive to do something meaningful with their lives, not just for themselves, but for the world around them.
I know how much opportunity matters. I came from humble beginnings, and it was the scholarships and stipends from U.S. universities, combined with my hard work and talent, that enabled me to complete both my master’s and doctoral degrees. Without those chances, I wouldn’t be where I am today.
That’s why I want to build a scholarship foundation—one that lives on forever—to help others who are ready to work hard, create beauty, and contribute to society.
Through LumiMusic and beyond, I hope to inspire and uplift people for generations—because talent, kindness, and ambition deserve to be supported.
