Story & Lesson Highlights with Suzanne Barton of Lake Worth, FL

We’re looking forward to introducing you to Suzanne Barton. Check out our conversation below.

Hi Suzanne, thank you so much for taking time out of your busy day to share your story, experiences and insights with our readers. Let’s jump right in with an interesting one: Are you walking a path—or wandering?
I am doing both. Both paths and wanderings are deeply significant. Walking the path nurtures integrity and is often required for moments of transformation and achievement—offering structure and meaning. Wandering, meanwhile, returns a spirit of exploration, innovation, and renewal, inviting one to experience life with fresh eyes. For me, seasons of walking the path and seasons of wandering alternate throughout life; together, they shape a richer, more resilient journey, allowing me to balance the wisdom found in dedication with the insights born of uncertainty and openness

Can you briefly introduce yourself and share what makes you or your brand unique?
My affinity for water and childhood passion for photography spawned my Underwater Fine Art Series. There is a new emotional resonance in every movement I captures under the surface. My work highlights the beauty of our waters , sea life and our vast array of cultural arts from an underwater perspective. In 2015, I was commissioned by Royal Caribbean Cruise Lines to create pieces for their ship “Harmony Of the Seas”. My worked has graced Galleries in Charleston, Chicago, Cincinnati, Laguna Beach and South Florida. I have been in 150 juried exhibitions, 13 publications, 7 solo exhibitions, and am the recipient of numerous awards. As an artist, I am drawn to the ethereal, elegant beauty of the underwater world. Through my photography, I seek to capture the whimsical grace and life-giving essence of water. Water is the source of all life on our planet, a powerful healing force that soothes the mind and soul. We are ALL the caretakers of this precious life force. My artistic mission is to induce the rejuvenating “blue mind” effect by transporting viewers into the tranquil depths through my images. I believe immersing oneself in these serene aquatic visions can be transformative. Working with models, I meticulously craft each frame to evoke a sense of breathless wonder at the marvels of the marine environment. The flowing fabric, lithe forms, and radiant light conjure a dreamlike realm where time seems to slow. My art invites the viewer to get lost in the hypnotic dance between human and water. While my underwater imagery holds undeniable artistic merit, I also strive to leverage my work as a catalyst for positive change. A portion of proceeds will be directed towards bringing clean drinking water to under-served areas, supporting healing centers that harness water’s therapeutic properties, and supporting our Oceanic Centers. With an increasing global appreciation for ocean conservation, this powerful imagery will resonate in coastal communities, hospitality spaces like hotels, airports, convention centers, and throughout the marine industry. These tranquil yet powerful scenes have the power to inspire awe, spark conversations, and forge a deeper connection to our planet’s vital aquatic ecosystems and their preservation.

Great, so let’s dive into your journey a bit more. What breaks the bonds between people—and what restores them?
Bonds between people are often broken by repeated hurt, betrayal, neglect, abuse, lack of communication, or a pattern of manipulative behavior that erodes trust and emotional safety. Bonds can be restored by mutual openness, honest communication, empathy, taking responsibility, making amends, and shared positive experiences. I feel the biggest factor is honest communication. In this era of so much supposed “connection” with the internet and social media, people have lost the ability to communicate person to person.

When you were sad or scared as a child, what helped?
Hugs, kisses and reassurance from my parents.

So a lot of these questions go deep, but if you are open to it, we’ve got a few more questions that we’d love to get your take on. What’s a cultural value you protect at all costs?
I value empathy and kindness. I am from the Midwest- Ohio to be exact- otherwise known as the “Heartland”- Need I say more?

Okay, so before we go, let’s tackle one more area. What is the story you hope people tell about you when you’re gone?
When I am gone, I hope people will say that I made a positive difference, even if in just one life. My deepest wish is that my presence touched someone’s heart or lightened their burden in some small way. I want to be remembered not for grand gestures, but for kindness, compassion, and the sincere effort to leave the world a little better than I found it. If my time here has inspired hope, encouraged growth, or brought a moment of comfort, then I will have truly lived with purpose. Ultimately, my hope is to leave behind a legacy of quiet goodness that endures beyond my days on this earth.
