Story & Lesson Highlights with Ryan Goldberg of Jupiter Florida

We’re looking forward to introducing you to Ryan Goldberg. Check out our conversation below.

Good morning Ryan, it’s such a great way to kick off the day – I think our readers will love hearing your stories, experiences and about how you think about life and work. Let’s jump right in? What’s the most surprising thing you’ve learned about your customers?
The most interesting thing I have learned about my customers is that they employ people who are called curators, and these people are paid extremely well to find their employees the latest and most desirable possessions available for purchase.

Can you briefly introduce yourself and share what makes you or your brand unique?
My name is Ryan Goldberg, and I’m the Founder and CEO of Shadow Six Racing. We’re a Motorsports and Lifestyle brand dedicated to pushing beyond the boundaries of impossible with innovation and an unwavering commitment to excellence.

Great, so let’s dive into your journey a bit more. What was your earliest memory of feeling powerful?
My earliest memory of feeling powerful was around the age of seven.

I began playing guitar a year or so prior, and very quickly realized how much I enjoyed practicing. I began to fall in love with the concept of setting goals, and steadily chipping away at them with persistence, dedication, and repetition.

I began to see that failure was a necessary foundation for measuring success, and by slowly failing less and less I could eventually reach goals by simply measuring success in three beats per minute increments.

Initially that led to learning to play songs, and by the end of that that first year it led to learning Flight of the Bumblebee.

For me, this was the first time I saw that I was capable of doing things I had considered impossible. I felt incredibly powerful knowing that combining persistence, patience, and passion was a super power.

What did suffering teach you that success never could?
Suffering taught me humility, and this is a gift that’s only achieved by adversity. Suffering is only avoided at the expense of character. I often feel sorry for people who’ve never experienced failure because the higher they climb the farther they’re destined to fall.

Alright, so if you are open to it, let’s explore some philosophical questions that touch on your values and worldview. Is the public version of you the real you?
I’ve never been afraid to show people who I am even when I’m being less than my best. Unfortunately, people will always see you through the lenses they create for themselves. While I always show the public the real me, they often only see what they perceive and it’s frequently a very unrealistic over glorified version of things.

Okay, we’ve made it essentially to the end. One last question before you go. What do you understand deeply that most people don’t?
Life is not about finding answers, it’s about learning to live in between all of the questions it presents.
