We’re looking forward to introducing you to Pamela Bosque. Check out our conversation below.
Hi Pamela, thank you so much for taking time out of your busy day to share your story, experiences and insights with our readers. Let’s jump right in with an interesting one: What do you think is misunderstood about your business?
I think the biggest misconception about dentistry is how people view dental insurance. A lot of patients believe insurance should determine when and how they get treated, but that’s not how our bodies work. Dental problems are biological—they don’t stop progressing just because insurance won’t cover something right away.
The truth is, dental insurance is more like a discount plan than true coverage. Most annual maximums haven’t increased in decades, even though everything else in healthcare has evolved. These plans were created to give limited help with basic needs, not to cover comprehensive treatment. So if patients wait until insurance ‘allows’ something, they often end up with bigger problems, more complex treatments, and higher costs down the line.
People sometimes forget that teeth are living structures—small organs that play a vital role in your mouth’s ecosystem. Losing a tooth is a big deal. It changes your bite, affects your bone, and sets off a domino effect of other issues. The best way to care for your mouth is through prevention, and if treatment is needed, it should happen right away—not when insurance decides it’s convenient.
At the end of the day, dental care is self-care. Insurance can help, but it shouldn’t be the one making decisions about your health.
Can you briefly introduce yourself and share what makes you or your brand unique?
My name is Dr. Pamela Bosque, and I am the owner and driving force behind ONE Dental, a modern, full-service dental practice in Miami. My journey began in Nicaragua, where I practiced dentistry alongside my mother in our family clinic. At 24, I made a life-changing decision to leave everything familiar behind to pursue my dental license and residency in the United States. This bold move was driven by a desire for growth and the belief that stepping outside my comfort zone was essential to unlocking my full potential.
After completing my residency and licensing in Connecticut, my husband and I decided to follow a new dream: leading a dental practice of my own. In March 2020, we relocated to Miami—unaware that a global pandemic would begin just weeks later. Dental offices closed, plans were upended, and uncertainty loomed. When practices eventually reopened, the impact of this world event on people’s oral health became clear. Many individuals had postponed dental visits out of fear, and some had gone years without receiving care. Even today, I still meet patients who haven’t seen a dentist since the pandemic began. This reality shaped our mission moving forward—we became the practice ready to welcome and support those who were anxious, overdue for treatment, and in need of compassionate, comprehensive care.
At ONE Dental, we take a patient-centered and holistic approach. We understand that oral health is deeply connected to overall health, so our treatments are designed to support total well-being. What sets us apart is our commitment to providing comprehensive care under one roof—eliminating the need for multiple specialists and making dental care seamless and efficient.
We embrace cutting-edge technology to deliver both advanced dental care and aesthetic wellness. Our services range from digital 3D mapping for customized clear aligners to PRGF–ENDORET® regenerative treatments and LANAP laser therapy for minimally invasive gum care. Beyond dentistry, we offer facial rejuvenation treatments such as PRGF microneedling, neuromodulation, hyaluronic acid fillers, and EMFACE—a unique device that lifts facial muscles and tightens skin simultaneously using advanced technology, with no needles or downtime.
My story is one of resilience, risk-taking, and unwavering commitment. I come from a small country that many may not find on a map, but with the support of my community, I’ve built a career that reflects both my professional expertise and personal journey. I truly believe that with dedication, patience, and courage, anything is possible.
Amazing, so let’s take a moment to go back in time. What relationship most shaped how you see yourself?
The relationship that has most shaped how I see myself is, without a doubt, the one I have with myself. Over time, I’ve learned that self-love, self-esteem, and self-compassion form the foundation for everything else in life. It’s easy to get caught up in seeking validation, connection, or approval from the outside world, but I’ve realized that when my relationship with myself isn’t nurtured, it shows up in every other relationship I have. By learning to treat myself with kindness, to trust my own voice, and to honor my worth, I’ve built a stronger sense of identity and resilience. That inner relationship has become my anchor, and it’s what allows me to show up authentically and fully for others.
Was there ever a time you almost gave up?
Yes, I’ve definitely had moments where I almost gave up. One that stands out was hiking in Patagonia. I’d been walking for seven hours on an ankle I had broken the year before, and early in a 12-mile trek, I twisted it badly. I was exhausted, in pain, and ready to quit.
My husband reminded me of the story “Three Feet from Gold”—about a man who gave up on a gold mine only to have the next owner strike gold just three feet from where he stopped. That hit me: sometimes we’re much closer to our goals than we realize. I pushed on, and just ten minutes later we reached the campsite. That experience taught me that perseverance isn’t just about strength—it’s about trusting the process, keeping perspective, and not giving up too soon.
I think our readers would appreciate hearing more about your values and what you think matters in life and career, etc. So our next question is along those lines. What are the biggest lies your industry tells itself?
One of the biggest misconceptions in the dental industry—both for practitioners and patients—is that a “perfect” smile means identical, super-white teeth. Trends like the “smile design” and “smile makeover” craze have promoted the idea that teeth should be perfectly uniform and porcelain-white, often at the expense of oral health. I’ve seen many patients who underwent these treatments only to end up with red, inflamed gums or hidden decay beneath the veneers—out of sight, but very much a problem.
The reality is that you can have a naturally beautiful smile with healthy, disease-free gums, and aesthetics can be enhanced through minimally invasive procedures if desired. Too often, the industry prioritizes appearance over health, which can confuse patients and lead to unnecessary treatments. I believe dentistry should focus on long-term oral health first, with beauty following naturally from that foundation.
There’s absolutely a place for smile makeovers—they can be life-changing—but lately, the trend has been overdone, and it has come at a significant cost to many patients.
Before we go, we’d love to hear your thoughts on some longer-run, legacy type questions. What do you understand deeply that most people don’t?
What I’ve come to understand deeply is the importance of truly investing in your relationships with family. I’ve been blessed with a wonderful family—my parents and older brother—but once I left home, I realized that distance changes the way you relate to each other. We don’t see each other as often as we would have if I had stayed, so spending intentional, quality time with them became essential.
I’ve learned that getting to know your family isn’t just about shared history—it’s about seeing them as adults, as friends, as unique human beings. Life can make it easy to fall into old patterns and take these relationships for granted, but being physically apart forced me to be intentional, to communicate honestly, and to show love in ways I hadn’t before.
Spending time individually with each of them has taught me that understanding your family—and making the effort to truly connect—is not only transformative for those relationships, but also a core part of understanding yourself. Most people don’t realize how much effort, reflection, and honesty it takes to build those deep connections, but it’s worth it.
