Story & Lesson Highlights with Macy Mariano of South Florida

We recently had the chance to connect with Macy Mariano and have shared our conversation below.

Macy, it’s always a pleasure to learn from you and your journey. Let’s start with a bit of a warmup: What do you think others are secretly struggling with—but never say?
I don’t know if anyone else can relate – but keep telling myself often that “I need to be doing more” when actually I am already doing PLENTY. I think a lot of people in our generation struggle with this – the need to be doing more because what we see on social media, with our family or friends, etc… because of the standards set upon ourselves from others. Then, we feel exhausted, overworked, and as if we are failing because we just aren’t there yet.

I remind myself everyday now that I have my own timing, my own path, my own standards for myself.
I am doing enough.

Can you briefly introduce yourself and share what makes you or your brand unique?
Gosh, I am not so great at talking about myself haha – so here it goes!

I’m Macy and I’m a digital lifestyle and home creator. This has been my full time job for six years now! I focus on sharing visually engaging, thoughtfully curated content across my platforms with brands that align with my daily life.

My story as a creative starts with travel. I actually first was a travel creator – working with hotels and sharing my experiences. However, that all transitioned when COVID came around, so I had to quickly decide what I wanted to do with my platforms. I went towards the lifestyle direction and the rest was history! Blessed to be doing what I love.

Thanks for sharing that. Would love to go back in time and hear about how your past might have impacted who you are today. Who taught you the most about work?
No one but MYSELF. In this industry, it is such a learning experience. I learn everyday how to run my business, become a personal brand, negotiate contracts, learn to authentically pitch myself, how to best create my own content, and so much more. I am my own inspiration!

Was there ever a time you almost gave up?
Sure, there were many times! With this line of work, income is a rollercoaster. One month you could be making $300 then the next month $5,000. There were many times when I realized the income wasn’t steady, so I thought about getting a second job. However, I knew that second job would take away a lot of my time from creating my usual content. So I decided to push through and give it a little more time. I eventually succeeded! Now I can say that I do have a steady income & an amazing management by my side thats always pitching me to awesome brands and making sure I get the best outcome!

I think our readers would appreciate hearing more about your values and what you think matters in life and career, etc. So our next question is along those lines. Is the public version of you the real you?
Yes, I would never want to put on a facade. I always try to be my most authentic self anywhere and everywhere (especially on my social platforms). It would be so hard trying to balance being another person and also being yourself.

Thank you so much for all of your openness so far. Maybe we can close with a future oriented question. When do you feel most at peace?
Simple – when I am at home. It’s what I have built @macysnook from. Home is somewhere I have made a sanctuary that I never want to leave. It’s where I block out the noise, unwind, do what I want – I am a complete homebody at heart.
