Story & Lesson Highlights with Lymar Shaw of Palm Beach

Lymar Shaw shared their story and experiences with us recently and you can find our conversation below.

Lymar, it’s always a pleasure to learn from you and your journey. Let’s start with a bit of a warmup: What do the first 90 minutes of your day look like?
My mornings have become my favorite part of my day!
I typically start with morning kisses from my dog, Givjng thanks for being alive and Square Biz by Teena Marie! I love to get a coffee and enjoy the sunlight and start my glam process! All of this happens within my first 90 minutes!

Can you briefly introduce yourself and share what makes you or your brand unique?
Hi! My name is Lymar Shaw, and I’m a professional makeup artist and the founder of Toned Artistry — a beauty brand built on the belief that beauty has no rules. My work focuses on enhancing confidence through artistry, education, and creativity. What makes Toned Artistry unique is its inclusive approach — I create looks for everyone, celebrating individuality while keeping the experience luxurious, expressive, and empowering.

Beyond artistry, I’m passionate about education and sharing my knowledge with others, helping people discover their most confident and authentic selves. Right now, I’m working on expanding Toned Artistry’s educational resources and developing content that blends beauty, artistry, and empowerment in new ways.

Thanks for sharing that. Would love to go back in time and hear about how your past might have impacted who you are today. Who saw you clearly before you could see yourself?
I am so grateful for my support team and my best friend, Nicole! She is my #1 cheerleader and often times will see my greatness before I realize.

What did suffering teach you that success never could?
Suffering taught me presence, empathy, and resilience — things success could never give me. When everything is going right, it’s easy to forget what truly grounds you. But in moments of struggle, you learn who you are without the applause — you learn patience, humility, and how to rebuild yourself with grace. Suffering stripped away the illusion of control and taught me how to find peace in uncertainty. It gave me depth — and that depth is what now fuels my artistry, my connection to people, and my purpose.

Next, maybe we can discuss some of your foundational philosophies and views? What would your closest friends say really matters to you?
Besides having perfect makeup, my closest friends would probably say that what really matters to me is making people feel seen and confident. I care deeply about connection — whether it’s through conversation, laughter, or a makeup brush. They’d tell you I’m passionate about growth, creativity, and showing up as my best self while helping others do the same. I value energy, honesty, and intention — and I think that’s what makes both my artistry and my relationships meaningful.

Okay, we’ve made it essentially to the end. One last question before you go. Are you doing what you were born to do—or what you were told to do?
I’m definitely doing what I was born to do. I’ve always been the type of person who wants to help others — to lift them up, remind them of their beauty, and use my light to help them see their own. Makeup became the perfect way to express that purpose. Through Toned Artistry, I get to merge creativity and compassion — using my artistry not just to enhance how someone looks, but to remind them how radiant they already are.
