Story & Lesson Highlights with Khrystyna Malaniuk of Coral Gables, Brickell, Hallandale

Khrystyna Malaniuk shared their story and experiences with us recently and you can find our conversation below.

Hi Khrystyna , thank you for taking the time to reflect back on your journey with us. I think our readers are in for a real treat. There is so much we can all learn from each other and so thank you again for opening up with us. Let’s get into it: What do you think is misunderstood about your business?
Many people think trichology is only about beauty treatments or styling, but in reality it’s a science-based field that studies the health of the scalp and hair. Another misconception is that we only deal with hair loss, when in fact we treat a wide range of conditions like seborrheic dermatitis, fragile hair, and scalp disorders. People also expect instant results, but true scalp and hair recovery is a process that takes time, consistency, and holistic care. Trichology is about long-term health, not quick fixes.

Can you briefly introduce yourself and share what makes you or your brand unique?
My name is Khrystyna, and I’m a trichologist and hair specialist based in Miami. I work in the field of scalp and hair health, helping people understand and treat conditions like hair loss, seborrheic dermatitis, fragile hair, and other scalp concerns. What makes my work unique is that I combine medical knowledge with holistic care — looking not only at the scalp itself, but also lifestyle, nutrition, and stress, because hair is a true reflection of overall health. My goal is to give people answers and solutions where they’ve often felt lost or overlooked, and to show that trichology is not just about beauty, but about long-term wellness and confidence. I’m also an educator, training future estheticians who earn their Florida license.
Right now, I’m focused on developing treatments and education programs to make this science more accessible, so more people can take control of their scalp and hair health.

Appreciate your sharing that. Let’s talk about your life, growing up and some of topics and learnings around that. Who saw you clearly before you could see yourself?
My family. They’ve always seen the real me, even when I couldn’t see myself clearly. They guided me and inspired me to pursue my medical degree, especially when I was still seeing the world through rose-colored glasses. I’ll always be grateful to them.

What have been the defining wounds of your life—and how have you healed them?
The deepest wound in my life has been losing my closest family members — my grandfather and my father. Their passing was an enormous pain for me. At first, I tried to hide it by throwing myself into work, keeping busy so I wouldn’t have to feel it. But with time I understood that you cannot hide from grief — you have to live through it. You have to cry, allow yourself to feel the pain in your body, and accept that it doesn’t mean your own life has ended. Healing came from realizing that the best way to honor them is to keep living, to do good, and to create something meaningful with the life they gave me.

So a lot of these questions go deep, but if you are open to it, we’ve got a few more questions that we’d love to get your take on. What would your closest friends say really matters to you?
My values in life are rooted in love and support from my family, true friendship, and the pursuit of good education and a meaningful career. I value stability — having something reliable to count on — and the chance to bring something unique to the world while improving other people’s lives. A healthy lifestyle, both for the body and mind, is at the core of how I live and work. These principles guide my philosophy in treating and teaching others about healthy, aesthetic living — combining care, knowledge, and purpose to help people thrive.

Before we go, we’d love to hear your thoughts on some longer-run, legacy type questions. If you retired tomorrow, what would your customers miss most?
If I retired tomorrow, my customers would miss my energy, my passion for my profession, and the love and care I put into every patient. I always strive to make each experience personal and meaningful, and that’s what they connect with most.
