Good morning Keymah, it’s such a great way to kick off the day – I think our readers will love hearing your stories, experiences and about how you think about life and work. Let’s jump right in? What makes you lose track of time—and find yourself again?
I have two happy places; the beach and a studio session just for me. I love resetting at the beach, grounding myself and talking to God. Admiring the ocean and what God Created for us.
Being in the studio feeds my creative hunger. I enjoy working with other artist and what not but I love being in there with just me or with the producer/engineer. It makes me feel free enough to get vulnerable with my thoughts and really tap in to bring them to life.
Can you briefly introduce yourself and share what makes you or your brand unique?
My name is Keymah Reneé. I’m a singer-songwriter/recording Artist from Miami, but I do more than just sing. I model from time to time , dabble in acting and I’m currently in a group called KARMA. We’ve just finished touring across the US with Scouting for the Stars at The Mall. So, I’m back home like I never left, ready for whatever’s next! Great, so let’s dive into your journey a bit more. What breaks the bonds between people—and what restores them?
I think the thing that breaks the bonds between people is betrayal and deceit. I think it’s always disheartening to know that someone you’re close with has broken trust in some way but the most powerful force In this world is love. Along with time, Love can fix anything.
Was there ever a time you almost gave up?
I don’t have the most ideal or traditional career path and I don’t come from the most respectable parts of Miami. Being a woman in this industry, it can be tough trying to compete. There’s been plenty of times that I’ve almost given up. Plenty of times where I’ve actually tried. But God wouldn’t allow it. I also have an amazing support system full of love. So , here I stand. Shoutout to my village.
I think our readers would appreciate hearing more about your values and what you think matters in life and career, etc. So our next question is along those lines. What do you believe is true but cannot prove?
I believe that there’s other living creatures, including humans, in a different part of the universe. Of course it can’t be proven because no one has ever made it that far out and back. But it doesn’t mean that it doesn’t exist. There’s a whole world of the unknown floating around out there.
Okay, we’ve made it essentially to the end. One last question before you go. If you knew you had 10 years left, what would you stop doing immediately?
I would definitely stop allowing others to dictate my decision with my career and life choices. This year I’ve noticed that I have a toxic trait of being a people pleaser at times. So, 10 years left or not, that version of me will be put to rest. If it’s true that we only have 1 life to live, I will be living mine to its fullest. By the Grace of God of course.
