Kathy Collins shared their story and experiences with us recently and you can find our conversation below.
Hi Kathy, thank you for taking the time to reflect back on your journey with us. I think our readers are in for a real treat. There is so much we can all learn from each other and so thank you again for opening up with us. Let’s get into it: What is a normal day like for you right now?
Right now, my days are a blend of structure, service, and soul care. I usually start my morning with prayer, quiet time, and stretching—just centering myself in God’s presence before the day begins. After that, I prepare breakfast, walk a bit, and get ready for my workday.
I work full-time as a Senior Career Advisor, supporting military spouses in their career journeys. My shift typically runs from late morning until evening, with a mid-day break for lunch and to check in on my loved ones.
In the margins of my day, I’m also building my coaching ministry, EmpowerHer, creating resources and devotional content to support women healing after divorce or loss. I often spend time writing, designing workshops, or praying over upcoming sessions with women’s ministries.
Evenings are usually quieter—I like to unwind with Scripture, journaling, or something light before bed. Life is full, but I’m learning to embrace the rhythm of grace and purpose in every part of it.
Can you briefly introduce yourself and share what makes you or your brand unique?
Hi I am Kathy Collins. I’m a Certified Life Coach, author, educator, and founder of EmpowerHer—a faith-based coaching ministry created to help women rebuild after the storms of divorce, grief, and personal loss.
What makes EmpowerHer unique is that it’s rooted in my own story. I’ve walked through the pain of divorce, the heartbreak of widowhood, and the challenges of starting over when everything around me fell apart. But through it all, God has been faithful—and now I walk alongside other women, helping them heal, rediscover their identity, and step boldly into the life God still has for them.
My brand combines coaching, scripture-based devotionals, and online sisterhood to create safe spaces for emotional and spiritual restoration. I also write books, lead church workshops, and develop digital resources for women in transition.
Right now, I’m especially excited about our 6-week devotional series and support group curriculum, EmpowerHer: Finding God’s Grace After the Storm, which is being shared with churches and women’s ministries across North America.
My mission is simple: to serve with integrity, invest with purpose, and remind women that their story is not over.
Amazing, so let’s take a moment to go back in time. What relationship most shaped how you see yourself?
The relationship that most shaped how I see myself is my relationship with God. I’ve experienced deep wounds from broken relationships—divorce, betrayal, the death of my spouse—and for a long time, I saw myself through the lens of those losses. But it was in those darkest moments that God met me and gently redefined who I was.
Through my grief, I came to know Him not just as a distant God, but as a loving Father, a healer, and the One who calls me worthy even when I felt discarded. He reminded me that my value isn’t tied to what I’ve lost, but to who I am in Him.
One scripture that became an anchor for me is Isaiah 43:1 —
“Do not fear, for I have redeemed you; I have called you by name; you are mine.”
Those words reshaped everything. I began to see myself not as broken, but as beloved. Not forgotten, but chosen. And now, through EmpowerHer, I help other women do the same—reclaiming their identity through the eyes of a faithful God.
When did you stop hiding your pain and start using it as power?
I stopped hiding my pain when I realized silence was no longer serving my healing. For years, I carried heartbreak quietly—masking grief, disappointment, and questions that weighed heavy on my soul. But it was after losing my husband, along with my job and sense of stability, that I found myself fully undone. And in that unraveling, I heard God’s gentle whisper: “I can use this.”
It was in the stillness of surrender—through tears, prayer, and truth-telling—that I began to see that my pain didn’t have to be my prison. Instead of pretending I was okay, I let God walk me through the valley—and then I started sharing what He had done.
That’s when EmpowerHer was born. A space where pain meets purpose. Where women no longer feel ashamed of their stories but see them as sacred. I believe healing becomes real when we’re honest—and our stories become powerful when we let God redeem them.
“They overcame…by the blood of the Lamb and by the word of their testimony.” —Revelation 12:11
Sure, so let’s go deeper into your values and how you think. What’s a belief or project you’re committed to, no matter how long it takes?
I’m deeply committed to the belief that women can rise again—whole, healed, and full of purpose—no matter what they’ve lost. That belief fuels every part of my work through EmpowerHer.
This is more than a coaching brand to me—it’s a calling. I’ve lived through the pain of divorce, the grief of losing a spouse, the weight of starting over. And I know what it feels like to question your worth, your future, even your faith. But I also know the power of God’s grace to rebuild what felt shattered beyond repair.
That’s why I’m committed to building a healing community for women—through devotionals, courses, retreats, and sisterhood circles. It’s not about quick fixes; it’s about deep transformation. Even if it takes years to grow, I’ll keep showing up—one story, one woman, one breakthrough at a time.
Because this isn’t just a project. It’s part of my purpose. And I know God is faithful to finish what He starts.
Okay, we’ve made it essentially to the end. One last question before you go. Could you give everything your best, even if no one ever praised you for it?
Absolutely. I’ve learned that when your work is tied to purpose—not applause—it changes everything.
There have been many seasons in my life when I showed up, served, gave, created, and loved without recognition. But I wasn’t doing it for praise—I was doing it out of obedience, out of faith, and out of love for the women I knew were silently struggling like I once was.
Of course, we all long to be seen. But I’ve come to realize that God sees what others miss, and He honors every seed sown in secret. So yes—I would still write the devotionals, lead the workshops, hold space for healing, and create EmpowerHer resources even if no one ever applauded… because I know the value isn’t in the platform, it’s in the lives being transformed—even if I never hear about them.
Colossians 3:23 says it best:
“Whatever you do, work at it with all your heart, as working for the Lord, not for human masters.”
That’s where I find my “why”—and that’s more than enough.
