Story & Lesson Highlights with Jacob Leone of Palm Beach

We’re looking forward to introducing you to Jacob Leone. Check out our conversation below.

Good morning Jacob, we’re so happy to have you here with us and we’d love to explore your story and how you think about life and legacy and so much more. So let’s start with a question we often ask: What are you being called to do now, that you may have been afraid of before?
Pursue audio engineering as a full time career. It’s something i’ve always wanted to do but never had the courage to face the risks and unknowns.

Can you briefly introduce yourself and share what makes you or your brand unique?
I’m Jacob Leone, known to my friends as Jake and Jack.Lion in the music world. I specialize in electronic music and sound design but recently have been rediscovering my love for hardcore music and guitar. With a background in machine learning and tech, I aim to integrate my experiences from both sides of the coin into my identity. Currently i’m building tools for musicians as well as my clientele for audio engineering. I’ve always been open to adapting to new ideas and am no stranger to embracing unknown paths. I always find my way back on track with a new perspective to wield.

Thanks for sharing that. Would love to go back in time and hear about how your past might have impacted who you are today. Who saw you clearly before you could see yourself?
My mother and father who have always been my number 1 supporters since literally day one. She has a knack for identifying my passion and nurturing that whereas my father has always reminded me to trust my intuition and believe in my ability to think critically and solve problems. Besides them, my closest friends have always believed in me and provided the moral support I need to be confident in who I am as I step into my own no matter how late or divergent my path becomes.

Was there ever a time you almost gave up?
Lately I feel like giving up every single day. Sometimes the world is too much and life doesn’t seem worth living anymore but I always find the strength to go on and take one more step towards my path of individuation. Its important to acknowledge our struggles and reach out for help when needed. But if i’ve learned anything about life its that you can take yourself very far even if you don’t see it in the moment. The mind doesn’t like uncertainty but its in the face of such unknowns that we step closer towards realizing our visions.

Alright, so if you are open to it, let’s explore some philosophical questions that touch on your values and worldview. Where are smart people getting it totally wrong today?
One thing i’ve observed is peoples inability to think outside their own perspectives. Tech has become a race to the bottom wherein individuals with a lot of talent get swept up into the whims of powerful companies that exploit their intelligence in exchange for the mighty dollar. Very few engineers care about the consequences of the technology they develop and some even believe narratives rosy narratives that walk the fine line between reality and idealism. On the other hand, I know brilliant artists who don’t always believe in their abilities to activate the mind beyond their comfort zone. I feel that if these individuals could open their mind and see past their self doubt they could uncover a life beyond their dreams. If both sides could meet in the middle then the world would seem less scary to them, or for others they may realize how scary the world actually is! Reconciliation with the truth matters to me and I don’t believe i’m any smarter or talented than any of my peers. I wish them all the best and hope as we grow together we can harness our potential for something great.

Okay, we’ve made it essentially to the end. One last question before you go. When do you feel most at peace?
Simply spending time with friends and family, building music and tools that are fueled by intrinsic passion and not extrinsic values and being in the forest are where I zero in on one thing and forget about my troubles. Its important to engage in the things that upset us whether its personal or in the world at large. But often times we forget that theres more important things in life than building our legacy and wealth. The simplest pleasures are the most valuable and happen to coincidentally also be the ones we lost sight of the easiest when we are focused on our routines.
