Story & Lesson Highlights with Ivonne Waissmann of Fort lauderdale

Ivonne Waissmann shared their story and experiences with us recently and you can find our conversation below.

Hi Ivonne, thank you for taking the time to reflect back on your journey with us. I think our readers are in for a real treat. There is so much we can all learn from each other and so thank you again for opening up with us. Let’s get into it: What is a normal day like for you right now?
A normal day for me starts with a moment of gratitude and a strong cup of coffee. Mornings are sacred—I use that time to center myself, reflect, and set the tone for the day. Then I head to my studio, which truly feels like my sanctuary.

I spend hours surrounded by textures, colors, crystals, fabrics, and resin—playing, experimenting, and letting my creativity lead the way. Some days I’m painting or finishing a mixed-media piece, other days I’m creating content or working on one of my fashion-inspired art toys.

No two days are exactly the same, but every day is rooted in inspiration, intuition, and the joy of bringing imagination to life through my hands.

Can you briefly introduce yourself and share what makes you or your brand unique?
Hi, I’m Ivonne Waissman, the artist behind Ivonnemixmedia. I create bold, fashion-forward mixed media art that blends hand-painted textures, digital work, crystals, resins, fabrics, and unexpected materials. My work is colorful, unapologetic, and full of emotion—it celebrates femininity, individuality, and the beauty of imperfection.

Originally from Venezuela and now based in Miami, I’ve exhibited internationally, including at Red Dot Miami and in galleries in Spain. My pieces have been featured in art books and magazines, and I’m constantly exploring new formats—from canvas to art toys to sculptural furniture.

Ivonnemixmedia isn’t just a brand—it’s a world where glamour meets grit, where every piece tells a story, and where creativity knows no limits.

Okay, so here’s a deep one: What’s a moment that really shaped how you see the world?
One moment that deeply shaped how I see the world was the first time I truly lost everything and had to start over from scratch. It forced me to reimagine not just who I was, but what I valued. I realized the world isn’t about stability—it’s about flexibility, reinvention, and having the courage to express your truth even when it doesn’t fit the mold.

That experience made me see beauty in the imperfect, and strength in vulnerability. It’s what led me to create art that fuses chaos with elegance, and to build a brand that doesn’t ask for permission—only authenticity. It taught me that resilience is an art form too.

When you were sad or scared as a child, what helped?
When I was sad or scared as a child, I would escape into my imagination. Drawing, playing with colors, inventing little stories or characters—those were my safe spaces. Art became my way of transforming fear into beauty and sadness into expression.

Sometimes, I didn’t have the words to say what I felt, but I could show it through what I created. That instinct to express instead of suppress is something I still carry in my art today. It’s why my work is bold, emotional, and unapologetically personal.

Alright, so if you are open to it, let’s explore some philosophical questions that touch on your values and worldview. What would your closest friends say really matters to you?
My closest friends would say that what truly matters to me is living a life that feels real—not perfect, not filtered, but honest and meaningful. They know I care deeply about creativity, emotional connection, and integrity.

They’d probably say I fight hard for my dreams and for the people I love, and that I refuse to settle for anything that doesn’t light me up. I believe in beauty, but more importantly, I believe in truth inside the beauty. That’s what I pour into my art and my life every day.

Okay, so let’s keep going with one more question that means a lot to us: If immortality were real, what would you build?
If immortality were real, I would build a living universe of art—one that never stops evolving. I’d create a foundation that nurtures bold, emotional, unapologetic artists who dare to tell their truth through their work.

I would turn spaces into experiences: immersive installations, traveling exhibitions, art-inspired fashion, storytelling through color, texture, and light. I’d design a place where art heals, transforms, and connects people across cultures and time.

If I had forever, I’d use every day to remind the world that art isn’t a luxury—it’s a necessity. And I’d make sure that no artist ever feels invisible.
