Story & Lesson Highlights with Emily Mullen of West Palm Beach

We’re looking forward to introducing you to Emily Mullen. Check out our conversation below.

Good morning Emily, we’re so happy to have you here with us and we’d love to explore your story and how you think about life and legacy and so much more. So let’s start with a question we often ask: What is a normal day like for you right now?
A day in the life as a personal chef means no two days are the same, especially as season picks up. My week typically starts with a pop-up at a farmer’s market on Sunday then in-home meal preps during the weekdays with some private dinners, and Friday/Saturday are always private event heavy. No matter what I will be cooking that day, I make sure to keep up on my administrative tasks like inquiries for future events, read through cookbooks for different flavor combinations/techniques and browse Pinterest for recipe inspiration. When I remember, I create content for a look into Good Vibakery for customers near and far. Each day brings its own rewards and challenges, but I am lucky to do what I love everyday, cooking with good vibes.

Can you briefly introduce yourself and share what makes you or your brand unique?
Good Vibakery is a refined yet playful culinary brand offering chef-driven baked goods and thoughtfully curated food experiences, rooted in vibrant, feel-good flavors and seasonal creativity. Emily is the chef & owner behind Good Vibakery. Emily is a creative chef specializing in nutrition-forward, and health-conscious cuisine. Since 2022, she has served private families as a contracted personal chef, offering in-home meal preparation, plated dinners, and culinary experiences for events and gatherings. Her cooking is deeply rooted in the vibrant traditions of Italian and Mediterranean cuisine, showcasing farm-to-table ingredients, artisanal products, and thoughtfully balanced menus that support both wellness and enjoyment. With a passion for seasonal cooking and global inspiration, Emily artfully blends classic techniques with inventive flavors to create highly personalized meals. Whether accommodating specific dietary needs or designing a special occasion menu, she brings care, precision, and a commitment to quality that make each meal both nourishing and unforgettable.a

Thanks for sharing that. Would love to go back in time and hear about how your past might have impacted who you are today. What did you believe about yourself as a child that you no longer believe?
In a twist of fate, I am now a chef. I say that because as a child I was a very picky eater and believed I always would be. I had certain food quirks that I developed and wouldn’t shake; despite always loving to watch food channels and experiment on my own. While I taught myself how to cook it wasn’t until I was in college that I dove head first into learning anything and everything that I could about food because I had an undiagnosed stomach issue that restricted what I ate. By understanding what ingredients are and how dishes are made, I shook the picky eater in me. I like to say I am a reformed picky eater, which myself as a child would never believe considering I wouldn’t even let food touch on my plate.

Do you remember a time someone truly listened to you?
Recently, my clients have surprised me in the fact they whole heartedly listened and trusted me. As a personal chef, I have a client intake form with their preferences (and they can be quite specific), it is understood not to stray away from that. After gaining the trust of repeat clients, they listened to me when I proposed a menu that strayed away from their preferences and even included items that should be avoided at all costs, to their surprise by listening to me they loved everything. I was fortunate for these clients and others, to listen to me when I have suggestions.

Next, maybe we can discuss some of your foundational philosophies and views? What would your closest friends say really matters to you?
As a chef and baker, I don’t know if many people would associate being healthy with that career, but that is exactly what my friends would say matters to me. Making healthy choices matters to me, in conjunction with balance. I believe in exercising, eating right, and satisfying a craving as it comes. As someone who cooks and bakes for a living, and for other people, it takes discipline as well as enjoying the healthy choices in order to make them. I would say my clients eat an 80/20 diet, which is 80% healthy and 20% more lenient, between snacks, cravings, and sweets. I make healthy choices everyday, and it is a privilege to cook for others to make it easier for them to make healthy choices.

Okay, so let’s keep going with one more question that means a lot to us: When do you feel most at peace?
I feel most at peace doing what I love, I am successful and lucky for the fact I get to cook everyday. When it gets too hot in the kitchen, literally and figuratively, I find myself at peace baking. From following tried and true recipes, a secret family recipe that brings comfort, to even experimenting with a new idea; baking brings me peace. And it doesn’t hurt I can taste the peace after.
