Dre Mav shared their story and experiences with us recently and you can find our conversation below.
Dre , we’re thrilled to have you with us today. Before we jump into your intro and the heart of the interview, let’s start with a bit of an ice breaker: What are you most proud of building — that nobody sees?
I am the most proud of building projects and connections with and out of love that will outlast my very own lifetime. Nobody truly sees everything that goes into these projects or what it took in order to establish those connections. Whether it’s with the charitable events I have initiated or the time and dedication I have given to help others succeed (in the entertainment field and not), I am proud to know of my own integrity & creativity that has always set me aside from many others, even when no one is looking & there is no recognition for it.
Can you briefly introduce yourself and share what makes you or your brand unique?

Okay, so here’s a deep one: What relationship most shaped how you see yourself?
My relationship with God has most shaped the way I see myself and others. Because I believe that we all come from the Highest & Best source of creation and energy, every day I try to see the best in myself and others regardless of our faults and imperfections.
When did you stop hiding your pain and start using it as power?
I have never hid my pain. I have never been about appearances. Since I was a child, I have spoken my mind and worn my heart on my sleeve. If I’m happy, you know it, if I’m sad, you do, too. I find power in owning my situations and my feelings. I utilize both pain and joy to propel me into the next and better version of me, always.
I think our readers would appreciate hearing more about your values and what you think matters in life and career, etc. So our next question is along those lines. Whom do you admire for their character, not their power?
I admire anyone who stands true to their character and not their power. I’ve had to learn the hard way that not everyone who helps you is doing it out of the kindness of their heart. I’ve had people take my ideas and claim it as their own. I’ve had the closest people to me betray and hurt me. Many have taken advantage of my lowest circumstances for their own gain. Anyone who utilizes their power for true good is a hero in my eyes.
Thank you so much for all of your openness so far. Maybe we can close with a future oriented question. What is the story you hope people tell about you when you’re gone?
The story I hope people tell about me when I’m gone is one of love. I love my family. I love my friends. I love Hip-Hop. I love my work. I love being of service. I love living. May my legacy be how many hearts I have touched and inspired & may the seeds I have planted continue to grow and bear fruit.
