Story & Lesson Highlights with Cynthia Garnier of Plantation

We’re looking forward to introducing you to Cynthia Garnier . Check out our conversation below.

Hi Cynthia , thank you for taking the time to reflect back on your journey with us. I think our readers are in for a real treat. There is so much we can all learn from each other and so thank you again for opening up with us. Let’s get into it: What are you being called to do now, that you may have been afraid of before?
Honestly I’m being called to show up fully. Not just as a baker or business owner but as myself, unapologetically. I used to be afraid of what people would think if I slowed down or stepped back. I thought I had to be constantly creating to prove I was serious. Now I know the pause was part of the process. I’m building Radiance in a way that actually honors me this time. Not out of fear, not to perform, but from a place of clarity, healing, and ownership.

Can you briefly introduce yourself and share what makes you or your brand unique?
I’m Cynthia, the founder of Radiance Cake Artistry. I create custom desserts that don’t just look good, they feel personal. Radiance started as a way to bring joy, beauty, and a little bit of magic to people’s lives during some of their most meaningful moments. Over time it became something deeper. For me, baking is emotional. It’s where culture, creativity, and healing meet. Right now I’m preparing for a full relaunch in September 2025. This return feels more aligned than ever. I’m building from a place that’s slower, more intentional, and more true to who I am. I want every bite to feel like a celebration of softness, strength, and soul..

Okay, so here’s a deep one: Who were you before the world told you who you had to be?
I was always observant and creative. I liked quiet things, stayed to myself, and didn’t need a lot of attention. But even back then I knew how to make things beautiful. I didn’t have the words for it as a kid but now I know that was my gift, being able to take what I felt and turn it into something people could experience. That same girl still shows up in my work today, just with more intention and a little more fire.

Was there ever a time you almost gave up?
Yes. I almost gave up when the joy I once felt in creating started to feel like a burden. I was burned out, overwhelmed, and trying to keep everything afloat with no room to breathe. Stepping away from Radiance was not just a break, it was survival. I needed space to recover, to remember why I started, and to learn how to build from a healthier place. I’m not returning to hustle. I’m returning to stillness, joy, and what feels true.

I think our readers would appreciate hearing more about your values and what you think matters in life and career, etc. So our next question is along those lines. What’s a belief or project you’re committed to, no matter how long it takes?
I’m committed to building Radiance Cake Artistry in a way that feels true. I’m not chasing quick success or doing it just for the sake of staying visible. I want to grow something with intention, even if it takes time. I care more about alignment than applause. For me the real win is knowing that what I’m creating reflects who I am and that my brand brings joy in someone’s special moment.

Okay, we’ve made it essentially to the end. One last question before you go. What will you regret not doing?
I’ll regret not fully going for it. Not launching the things I talked about for years. Not giving Radiance the room to grow the way I know it could. I’ve had to pause and restart more than once but deep down I know the regret would be louder if I never let myself try. Sometimes you have to do it scared and trust that showing up is enough. And with that, Radiance Cake Artistry is officially relaunching this September . I can’t wait to share what’s coming.
