Story & Lesson Highlights with Candace Williams of Miami Gardens

We’re looking forward to introducing you to Candace Williams . Check out our conversation below.

Candace , so good to connect and we’re excited to share your story and insights with our audience. There’s a ton to learn from your story, but let’s start with a warm up before we get into the heart of the interview. What is something outside of work that is bringing you joy lately?
Lately, I’ve been finding so much joy in rediscovering myself outside of work. I’ve been leaning into childhood joys but in a grown-up way—taking myself on solo dates and trips, coloring just for fun, experimenting with new recipes (and revisiting old favorites), and even spending time at Disney and theme parks. It feels like I’m giving myself permission to play again, while also nurturing the woman I’ve become. It’s been such a refreshing way to stay inspired and connected to myself.

Can you briefly introduce yourself and share what makes you or your brand unique?
I’m Candace, the founder of Kissing Booth Cosmetics—a brand I created with busy women in mind. I know what it feels like to juggle a full plate and still want to feel confident and put together, so I wanted to create beauty products that feel like little confidence boosters in the middle of everyday life.

For me, makeup isn’t about perfection; it’s about expression, ease, and that instant spark of ‘I’ve got this’ when you swipe on a lip color. That’s why I like to call Kissing Booth Cosmetics your beauty bestie in a bag—luxury vibes without the luxury hassle.

What makes this journey so special is that it’s not just about makeup—it’s about community. I’m passionate about creating a space where women feel seen, celebrated, and reminded that even in the busiest or hardest seasons, they still deserve to shine. And right now, I’m focused on building that community while developing products that make beauty simple, fun, and long-lasting.

Thanks for sharing that. Would love to go back in time and hear about how your past might have impacted who you are today. What’s a moment that really shaped how you see the world?
Motherhood completely reshaped the way I see the world. Going through pregnancy, giving birth, and walking through postpartum taught me just how strong and resilient I really am. It showed me that life comes with both challenges and blessings, but with God by my side, there’s nothing I can’t overcome. That experience gave me a deeper sense of purpose, faith, and confidence—not just as a mom, but as a woman and an entrepreneur.

What fear has held you back the most in your life?
The biggest fear I’ve had to face is the fear of failing—or even worse, never stepping fully into my potential and purpose. For a long time, that fear made me hesitate. But I’ve discovered that some of my greatest blessings have come when I chose to move forward scared. Now, I treat fear as a reminder that I’m on the edge of something greater. I’d rather try, learn, and grow than live with the weight of ‘what if

I think our readers would appreciate hearing more about your values and what you think matters in life and career, etc. So our next question is along those lines. Whom do you admire for their character, not their power?
I really admire Rihanna—not just for her success, but for the way she carries herself through each chapter of her life. I love the era she’s in right now, where she’s unapologetically embracing family and entrepreneurship. She’s shown us that women can be multi-faceted—running businesses, expressing creativity, and setting boundaries around what matters most. I especially admire how she’s been firm about music not being her focus at the moment, even though the world is waiting. I believe when she does return, she’ll dominate just like she has in beauty and fashion. To me, that kind of confidence and authenticity is true character.

Okay, so let’s keep going with one more question that means a lot to us: When do you feel most at peace?
I feel most at peace when I’m relaxing and leaning into the simple joys I mentioned earlier—like cooking, coloring, or taking myself on solo adventures. Those moments give me space to breathe, reflect, and just be present. It’s in that stillness that I recharge and find clarity, both personally and creatively.
