Story & Lesson Highlights with Ana Garcia

We recently had the chance to connect with Ana Garcia and have shared our conversation below.

Hi Ana, thank you so much for taking time out of your busy day to share your story, experiences and insights with our readers. Let’s jump right in with an interesting one: What is something outside of work that is bringing you joy lately?
I love being with family and friends, whether we go out to eat or just hang out to watch a movie. Just being with them brings me joy.

Can you briefly introduce yourself and share what makes you or your brand unique?
I am a photographer and artist, born and raised in Miami. I’ve always loved art and photography. I received a Bachelors in Fine Art, specifically Drawing while also having an interest in photography. I had several exhibitions with my drawings and photography. I eventually decided to focus more on photography.

I love photographing nature, landscapes, wildlife, and beaches. I sell prints of my photos of nature, beaches, landscapes, sky, sunset, sunrise, wildlife and more. There is so much to see in this world. I love documenting everything around us from Mother Earth to you, your family and friends. I experience peace being surrounded by nature. I feel that everyone should see the beauty in nature so I capture it with photography. I believe that South Florida has so much to see on a daily basis that you can miss it as life passes.

The way I feel about nature is also the same way I feel about those moments in time we share with one another, family, friends, and ourselves. I love to capture those all those moments in life with photography. Without it being documented, one may forget what happened, how you looked, and how you felt, years down the line. I want to help you capture and preserve those memories and events and to share with loved ones for years to come.

Okay, so here’s a deep one: Who taught you the most about work?
I learned about hard work by watching my parents. Between working a full time job to raising my siblings and I, which that is a 24/7 full time never ending job with the most rewards.

When did you stop hiding your pain and start using it as power?
During my college years, I suffered from daily headaches. I eventually started to draw through the pain that turned into beautiful works of art. The energy and rhythm of the lines helped relieve my pain from the headaches. I called these lines my Headache Scribbles and created a collection of drawings that I called Chaotic Confinement that became my art thesis.

Next, maybe we can discuss some of your foundational philosophies and views? What would your closest friends say really matters to you?
They would say that my family and friends are what matters the most to me. They know how important the relationships are and would do anything for them in a heart beat. My friends would also say that photography is very important to me. They love how passionate I am about capturing all the moments so we can look back on it for years to come.

Thank you so much for all of your openness so far. Maybe we can close with a future oriented question. When do you feel most at peace?
Being at the beach brings me the most peace. There’s just something magical about the ocean that just calms me and brings me joy. Being around nature at a park also does that for me. I can just sit there and take it all in.
