Sofia Lavarello of miami on Life, Lessons & Legacy

We’re looking forward to introducing you to Sofia Lavarello. Check out our conversation below.

Sofia, it’s always a pleasure to learn from you and your journey. Let’s start with a bit of a warmup: What is something outside of work that is bringing you joy lately?
Something that’s been bringing me a lot of joy lately is dancing. I recently went back to it after a long time, and it’s been such a fulfilling experience. I’ve always dreamed of being a dancer — it’s something that truly allows me to disconnect, recharge, and express myself in a different way. I also practice yoga daily, which helps me stay grounded and balanced, both physically and mentally. These two practices have become essential parts of my routine outside of work.

Can you briefly introduce yourself and share what makes you or your brand unique?
My name is Sofía Lavarello. I’m a journalist and content producer originally from Argentina, now based in Miami. I specialize in sports and storytelling, and throughout my career I’ve had the chance to work with organizations like FIFA, CONMEBOL, and Inter Miami CF, covering some of the world’s biggest tournaments — including the FIFA World Cup in Qatar, the U-20 World Cup in Argentina, Copa América 2024, and most recently, the FIFA Club World Cup in Miami.

What makes my journey unique is that I’ve always combined journalism with creativity and emotion — whether it’s producing a live show, interviewing top athletes, or telling stories that highlight human resilience and passion for sports. I’m currently working on a documentary series that follows inspiring stories of women who play amateur football and overcome personal challenges through the game.

Beyond sports, I’m passionate about connecting with people through meaningful conversations, and I also co-host a podcast where we dive into the personal stories of artists, athletes, and media personalities.

For me, it’s all about building bridges through storytelling — and using media as a tool to inspire, inform, and bring people together.

Appreciate your sharing that. Let’s talk about your life, growing up and some of topics and learnings around that. Who taught you the most about work?
It wasn’t one person in particular — it was the nature of the events I’ve worked on that taught me the most about work. Covering live sports tournaments and major productions exposed me to long hours, sometimes under the sun or in the rain, often without knowing exactly when the day would end. The adrenaline of live events, the constant problem-solving, and having to adapt quickly to unexpected situations shaped my work ethic more than anything else. Those experiences taught me resilience, teamwork, and the importance of staying calm and focused under pressure.

When did you stop hiding your pain and start using it as power?
I realized I was turning pain into power when I understood that I had the ability to reinvent myself — that I could become whoever I wanted to be. That mindset shift changed everything for me. I learned that opportunities are always out there, but you have to go after them with intention and courage. Instead of letting challenges define me, I began using them as fuel to grow, evolve, and keep moving forward with purpose.

Sure, so let’s go deeper into your values and how you think. What’s a belief or project you’re committed to, no matter how long it takes?
I’m deeply committed to any project that challenges me, pushes me out of my comfort zone, and forces me to grow — even if it feels uncomfortable at first. I believe that real transformation happens when we allow ourselves to be stretched beyond what feels familiar. I’m always open to new projects, especially those that inspire creativity, require adaptability, and help me evolve both personally and professionally.

Okay, so let’s keep going with one more question that means a lot to us: What will you regret not doing?
I would regret not living life with intensity — not fully enjoying each moment or holding back from going after everything I truly want. For me, life is about being present, taking risks, embracing every experience, and pursuing my passions wholeheartedly. I never want to look back and feel like I played it safe.
