Shana and Dan Benchetrit’s Stories, Lessons & Insights

We’re looking forward to introducing you to Shana and Dan Benchetrit. Check out our conversation below.

Shana and Dan, really appreciate you sharing your stories and insights with us. The world would have so much more understanding and empathy if we all were a bit more open about our stories and how they have helped shaped our journey and worldview. Let’s jump in with a fun one: What is something outside of work that is bringing you joy lately?
Spending quality time with my family brings me a lot of joy. I truly value taking breaks from work to reconnect with them and to celebrate meaningful moments with family and friends. Living in Miami also allows me to pause, even for just a few minutes, to look at the ocean or the deep blue sky. Those simple moments ground me. I see the little things as true blessings, and they give me a lot of joy and positive energy.

Can you briefly introduce yourself and share what makes you or your brand unique?
We are Dan and Shana, partners in life and in the Dasha journey (a name born from the fusion of our own). After many years working in the art world, we noticed that certain multicultural symbols carrying strong meanings of protection, luck, and positivity were surprisingly underrepresented. Inspired by our shared desire to spread good energy and optimism, we decided to create Dasha.

Our sculptures are designed to illuminate a space not only through color, but also through powerful symbolic forms such as the Eye, the Hamsa, the Chai, and the four-leaf clover. Each piece carries intention, emotion, and meaning.

Every sculpture is produced in an edition of only eight, making each creation highly exclusive and deeply personal. More than an object, it is a meaningful presence.

Great, so let’s dive into your journey a bit more. Who taught you the most about work?
Before creating Dasha, we were both fortunate, through our respective careers, to be surrounded by exceptionally talented artists. Being immersed in their creative worlds taught us a great deal ; not only about the artistic process, but about what it truly means to dedicate oneself to this profession. Witnessing their passion, discipline, and freedom of expression was a constant source of inspiration.

The idea of creating sculptures infused with intention, pieces into which we pour our hearts and that reflect the values and energy we want to share with the world, has always deeply fascinated us. That fascination ultimately shaped our approach to work and led us to create Dasha.

Was there ever a time you almost gave up?
We have faced many challenges throughout our journey, some more difficult than others. While there were moments when giving up might have seemed like the easier option, we always found the strength to keep moving forward, often by supporting and encouraging one another. These challenges pushed us to rethink, adapt, and grow. In many ways, they became opportunities to improve, evolve, and develop new ideas that ultimately strengthened our work.

So a lot of these questions go deep, but if you are open to it, we’ve got a few more questions that we’d love to get your take on. What’s a cultural value you protect at all costs?
We both come from North Africa through our grandparents, and our Jewish heritage is deeply intertwined with this culture. Together, they have shaped values of sharing, warmth, respect for others, and generosity that are central to who we are. These values guide our creative vision and inspire us to spread light, positive energy, and meaning through our sculptures. Each piece is conceived as a way to create connection and bring uplifting energy into a space.

Okay, we’ve made it essentially to the end. One last question before you go. What is the story you hope people tell about you when you’re gone?
What matters most to both of us is to share a message of love, positivity, and connection through our work, beyond cultures, backgrounds, or beliefs. If our creations succeed in bringing people together, in creating emotion, and in spreading positive energy, then we will feel that we have truly fulfilled our mission.
