SANDRA ARTILES of Miami Beach on Life, Lessons & Legacy

We recently had the chance to connect with SANDRA ARTILES and have shared our conversation below.

Hi SANDRA, thank you so much for joining us today. We’re thrilled to learn more about your journey, values and what you are currently working on. Let’s start with an ice breaker: What do the first 90 minutes of your day look like?
My First 90 Minutes of the Day

Meditation (25 minutes): I begin by centering myself in stillness, breathing deeply, and aligning with peace.

Coffee Ritual: I prepare my coffee with intention, savoring the warmth, aroma, and presence in the moment.

Stretching & Gratitude: I move my body gently, opening space and energy. As I stretch, I give thanks—for all that I already have and for all the blessings and opportunities that are flowing my way.

Every single day, I choose to start with gratitude, peace, and joy.

Can you briefly introduce yourself and share what makes you or your brand unique?
I am the Owner and Designer of FunnyBagTags by Cukiegirl. What makes my luggage tags and travel accessories unique is that I design each one with creativity and care. They’re not only sturdy and long-lasting, but also colorful and fun, making it easier to spot your bag on the carousel.

I take pride in my quirky designs, created to bring a smile to your face while keeping your luggage easy to find. With FunnyBagTags, your travels are not just easier—they’re brighter and a little more fun!

Okay, so here’s a deep one: What relationship most shaped how you see yourself?
The relationship that has shaped my life the most is the one I share with my daughter, Severine. Her noble spirit and unconditional love—not only toward me, but toward everyone around her—have taught me so much. She has helped me grow in countless ways, and for that, I am deeply grateful.

What have been the defining wounds of your life—and how have you healed them?
We all carry defining wounds. I come from a place of pain and deep sadness, but I made a decision early on—that my past would not shape my future. I chose to be a designer, not only of products, but of my own life.

Even when I had to work other jobs, I knew I would still create, still design. And today, at 57 years old, I feel proud of the life I’ve built. I am happy, fulfilled, doing the things I love, and surrounded by people who love me—free of attachment, and full of gratitude.

I think our readers would appreciate hearing more about your values and what you think matters in life and career, etc. So our next question is along those lines. What’s a cultural value you protect at all costs?
If human contact is a cultural value, it is the one I treasure most. I’ve promised myself never to lose touch with others, and to always make people feel valued—just as I wish to feel.

Human connection is something we often take for granted, even as it quietly keeps us alive and included. Sadly, it’s also something we keep pushing away or neglecting, without realizing how essential it truly is. For me, the value of human connection is sacred, and I believe it must be protected at all costs.

Okay, so before we go, let’s tackle one more area. If immortality were real, what would you build?
If immortality were real, I would dedicate it to protecting children. I would create laws that shield them from the traumas of divorce and from growing up feeling lost or insecure.

I would build schools that focus not just on academics, but on teaching children the essentials of life—how to nurture healthy human relationships, how to cope with challenges day to day, how to manage money, and how to understand and express their feelings.

That is how I would use immortality: to raise generations of children who feel safe, valued, and prepared for life.
