Today we’d like to introduce you to Viviane Spinelli.
Viviane, we appreciate you taking the time to share your story with us today. Where does your story begin?
I was born and raised in Cuiabá, Brazil – graduated from Santa Úrsula University in Rio de Janeiro with a degree in Urbanism and Architecture in 1992. But my passion for cinema took me on a different path. In 1994 I moved to California to study English and then moved to Miami and co-founded Inffinito with two partners – Adriana and Claudia Dutra. I dedicated more than three decades promoting Brazilian culture around the world. As the founder and executive director of the Inffinito Brazilian Film Festival and Inffinito Foundation, I have created platforms that celebrate Brazilian filmmakers while also fostering Brazilian music, visual arts, and cultural exchange between Brazil and the United States.
Based in Miami Beach, I’m in charge of fundraising, management, production and promotion of the company’s events and although we produced numerous musical concerts as well as films and television projects in Brazil and the United States our main project remains the Inffinito Brazilian Film Festival – celebrating in 2026, 30 Years with a vibrant gathering of cinema, music, and Brazilian culture.
Throughout my career, I have led the production of more than 105 editions of the Inffinito Festival Circuit, helping establish it as an international benchmark for Brazilian cinema. My work also includes directing and production of the short film Pioneers and the musical documentary Caravana Mato Grosso – Orchestra on the Road, assistant director of the documentary Smoking I Wait, executive producer of the documentary Transtime, US producer of documentary Society of Fear, and producer of Inffinito’s TV Series Option America in the US, and production manager of Inffinito new project – the feature film I Love Cambuquira, with scenes in Miami,
In 2018, I was awarded the Order of Rio Branco by the Presidency of the Federative Republic of Brazil and the Ministry of External Relations highest honor, the Order of Rio Branco in recognition of my contributions to cultural diplomacy.
In 2020 I launched with my partners a new platform to screen film all over the world – www.inff.online, this year we change the name to www.inffinito.plus. A Centro Cultural Brasil USA Board Member for nearly 20 years, I proudly supports both organizations mission to preserve and promote Brazilian culture through the arts and education.
I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
The greatest challenge for a festival, a film, or a cultural project is always fundraising.
We dealt with many Brazilian government administrations – some that offered support for a year or two and then stopped, so fundraising was always a major challenge. Yet, we remained steadfast and persevered for 30 years to ensure the Brazilian Film Festival took place continuously.
Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your work?
I’m executive director, cultural producer, and co-founder of the Inffinito Group and the Inffinito Foundation—organizations responsible for creating the world’s largest and longest-running festival circuit dedicated to Brazilian cinema.
I have built a career spanning over three decades promoting Brazilian culture internationally by leading the production of events, film, and cultural initiatives.
If you had to, what characteristic of yours would you give the most credit to?
I believe the most important trait is perseverance—believing in the project and making it happen.
I don’t think there is such a thing as “success,” but rather continuous work.
