Rising Stars: Meet Terence Greene of Charlotte North Carolina

Today we’d like to introduce you to Terence Greene

Hi Terence , so excited to have you on the platform. So before we get into questions about your work-life, maybe you can bring our readers up to speed on your story and how you got to where you are today?
I discovered my passion for media in 2021 while serving at my local church. It all started when I noticed the church’s social media needed improvement. I approached my pastor and explained that relying on iPhone pictures and videos wouldn’t help the church grow in the digital age, where social media plays a crucial role in outreach and engagement.

My pastor entrusted me with the responsibility of managing the church’s social media. I found a photographer within the congregation who began taking pictures for me to post. However, as time went on, the photographer became inconsistent, so he allowed me to borrow his camera. I started taking the pictures myself, and when he saw the quality of my work, he was genuinely surprised at how good the photos were.

Shortly after, I attended a leadership convention with my church, where we connected with a larger church that we admire. During the event, I spent time with their media department, and they complimented our church’s social media, asking what kind of camera I used. When I told them I didn’t own a camera, they surprised me at the end of the convention by blessing me with one. I knew in that moment it was a divine intervention.

From that point on, I dedicated myself to honing my craft, investing time and resources into developing my skills and creating a unique approach to media. My passion for media seems to run in the family—my mom has been a photographer since she was 16 years old. Although I grew up around media in Mississippi, I never imagined it would become my career.

Looking back, I’m incredibly grateful for the journey. I’ve had the opportunity to shoot abroad, travel on private jets, and work with major brands like D’Ussé and Roc Nation. It’s interesting to reflect on how some people who overlooked me when I started now want to collaborate with me. But I understand now that it wasn’t part of God’s plan at the time, and I hold no hard feelings.

One of my proudest moments in my career is filming behind the scenes for my wife, who is a successful wedding planner in Charlotte. It’s truly a blessing to help her build her brand and create content for her. We are committed to creating generational wealth and view our partnership in business as a significant blessing.

I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
It’s been an okay journey—not particularly challenging, though I did hit a few bumps along the way. One of the biggest obstacles was finding people willing to mentor me as I was eager to learn how to use my camera. Unfortunately, I encountered individuals who weren’t genuinely interested in helping me; instead, they saw me as competition.

This experience taught me an important lesson: not everyone wants the best for you. But it also instilled in me the value of genuinely helping others. I made a promise to myself that I would never discourage someone who is trying to learn and perfect their craft. Instead, I would offer the support and mentorship I wished I had received.

Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know about your work?
I’m a Director of Videography and Photography, known for creating captivating highlight reels and behind-the-scenes footage. I carved out my own niche in the industry and ran with it. While I still shoot professional landscape videos and take photos occasionally, my true passion lies in crafting reels that capture clients in the moment, turning their experiences into cinematic stories.

I’m incredibly blessed to have the ability to piece together a video that not only captures the essence of the moment but also tells a compelling story.

Is there anyone you’d like to thank or give credit to?
My close friends, my wife Miyoshi Greene, and the media professionals currently in my life have been a constant source of motivation, always speaking words of affirmation into me. Their support has truly pushed me to strive for excellence and become better in my craft.

I’m now working with clients I’ve admired in the industry for years—people who are real movers and shakers in the city. It’s incredibly rewarding to collaborate with such influential figures.
