Rising Stars: Meet Tana Habibi

Today we’d like to introduce you to Tana Habibi.

Hi Tana, we’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
I’m Saudi and American-born in Saudi Arabia. I had a very different upbringing from most people. My family was very strict, just like any other family in the country. I was forced to cover head to toe when I was 10 years old. I dreamed of being free ever since I can remember. I made it a goal ever since I was a child that I wanted to be free in every way possible. I graduated high school with great grades and applied to scholarships and universities in the US. I was accepted into ASU (Arizona State University) engineering program on a full-ride scholarship. I graduated from ASU with a cum Laude honors in civil engineering and traveled the world solo for a few months after I graduated. I experienced freedom for the first time in my life. What it truly felt to be alive, and when I came back to Arizona, that’s all I could ever think of. I worked as a Civil Engineer for a few years and absolutely hated my job. I would question if this was the freedom I have been longing for this whole time. For fun, I started posting photos of myself on Instagram, and I grew a large following in just a few months. In 2020 I was a victim of domestic violence and left everything from my life; my belongings, job, home, and moved to Miami alone. I decided to monetize my following and started earning from brand sponsorships. I recently signed with a modeling agency, and I’m pursuing modeling full-time.

I’m sure you wouldn’t say it’s been obstacle free, but so far would you say the journey has been a fairly smooth road?
The biggest obstacle I’m experiencing right now is my mental health, specifically PTSD. I have experienced all kinds of physical and emotional abuse my whole life trying to pursue my dreams. I have made it through near-death experiences because I chose my dreams over being obedient and silenced. I’m in a point in my life where I am living the life I always dreamed of but stuck in survival mode because I haven’t healed from past traumas.

Appreciate you sharing that. What else should we know about what you do?
I’m a plus-size model and content creator; I specialize in making cute, soft, feminine, and magical content on my social media platforms. I am being the representation I wanted to see as a child. Someone who is confident being who they are and their own skin. I don’t fit into one box. I’m a Saudi American curvy woman with curly hair that has a civil engineering background but also loves the same things from childhood because I never fully got to experience it and never had the chance to find my own style or show my body because of my upbringing. I am proud to be alive and have overcome every obstacle. This is just the start of journey, and I can’t wait for what the future holds.

We love surprises, fun facts, and unexpected stories. Is there something you can share that might surprise us?
