Rising Stars: Meet Stewart Gerard of New York City

Today we’d like to introduce you to Stewart Gerard.

Hi Stewart, it’s an honor to have you on the platform. Thanks for taking the time to share your story with us – to start maybe you can share some of your backstory with our readers?
I started out in Photography and Set / Production design around 14=15 years ago, I briefly assisted for about half a year then branched out on my own taking all kinds of jobs for any kind of pay or sometimes pro bono just to get my name out there. Now moving forward I’m repped by two agencies, work all over the globe and enjoy the projects from the small ones to big ones. Every project needs different ways of thinking and tools to succeed. I look forward to the every challenge.

We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
Sure, the main thing is at the start checking your emails and hoping new projects come along. You are as an independent contractor / creator you’re own boss but that also means you have to go out there and let yourself be known to acquire new work and that I would say leads to proper. bumps so to speak.

Thanks – so what else should our readers know about your work and what you’re currently focused on?
My main bread and butter so to speak is set and interior design, That means that one half of design / build work is for fashion shoots, movies, commercials. the other half is proper interior design for bars / restaurants / high end residential. Both are extremely fulfilling and come with their own sets of challenges and excitement. Whatever me and my team are design building you can be sure it will be done with great care, precision and speed. The faster we finish the happier everyone is. But, without sacrificing quality or attention to detail.

Is there anyone you’d like to thank or give credit to?
Yeah of course, my Mom and dad for sure always supported me which when you’re young and aiming towards a field in the arts I’ve heard that support is not always a forgone conclusion. So, thanks you two! Various friends and other family members along the way you know who you are! and for sure my good buddy Mark Gravel, and Lukas Bossert.
