Today we’d like to introduce you to Silvana Gonzalez.
Hi Silvana, thanks for joining us today. We’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
Photography has been a part of my life for over 20 years and has truly always been my passion. I studied photography at the Art Institute of Fort Lauderdale, where I developed both the technical and creative foundation for my career.
After graduating, I worked as a children’s photographer and had the opportunity to work alongside and learn from other talented photographers. Those experiences helped shape my style, deepen my skills, and taught me the importance of connecting with people through photography.
What I love most about photography is the ability to preserve moments that families will cherish forever. I specialize in families, children, milestones, maternity, and events, and I genuinely enjoy working with people and helping them feel comfortable in front of the camera. There is something incredibly rewarding about creating images that tell a story and capture memories that can be passed down for generations.
These days, I work part-time while raising my two young boys. I also have an older daughter and a beautiful granddaughter who live in Orlando. My family is my greatest blessing, and they inspire so much of the work I do. Along with my family, my faith is a central part of my life and guides the way I approach both my business and relationships with others.
Looking back, photography has given me the opportunity to meet incredible people, celebrate important milestones with families, and do work that I truly love. I feel grateful every day that I get to combine my passion for photography with serving others and creating meaningful memories that will last a lifetime.
Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
It definitely hasn’t always been a smooth road. One of my biggest challenges has been balancing my photography business with family life. As a mother, my family will always come first, and finding the time to shoot, edit, market my business, and manage all the behind the scenes work while raising children can be difficult.
There have been seasons where I’ve had to step back professionally to focus on my family, and other times when I’ve had to work late nights after my children were asleep just to keep up with editing and client galleries. Learning how to balance both motherhood and entrepreneurship has been one of my greatest challenges, but also one of my greatest blessings.
Photography is something I truly love, so even during the busy seasons, I’ve continued to grow my business at a pace that works for my family. Through it all, my faith has helped keep me grounded and reminded me that there is a season for everything. Looking back, the challenges have taught me patience, perseverance, and the importance of creating a life that allows me to pursue my passion while still being present for the people I love most.
Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your work?
I am a family and portrait photographer specializing in children, families, maternity, milestones, and special events. My style is bright, timeless, and focused on capturing genuine connections and authentic moments. While beautiful images are important, my goal is always to create an experience where families feel comfortable, relaxed, and truly seen.
What I am most proud of is the relationships I have built with my clients over the years. Many families have trusted me to document multiple chapters of their lives from maternity sessions to newborns, birthdays, graduations, and family milestones. Being invited back again and again is one of the greatest compliments I can receive as a photographer.
I believe what sets me apart is my ability to connect with people, especially children. With years of experience photographing children and being a mother myself, I understand that every child is different. I approach each session with patience, flexibility, and a genuine desire to make the experience enjoyable for everyone involved.
Beyond photography, I truly care about the families I work with. I know that the images we create today will become treasured memories tomorrow. Whether it’s a milestone, a celebration, or an ordinary moment that deserves to be remembered, I feel honored to preserve those memories for my clients.
At the heart of everything I do are faith, family, and connection. Those values guide the way I run my business and the way I serve the families who trust me with their most precious moments.
Are there any books, apps, podcasts or blogs that help you do your best?
I enjoy listening to podcasts, audiobooks, and devotionals that help me grow both personally and spiritually. One podcast I listen to regularly is George Janko’s podcast because I appreciate the conversations about faith, personal growth, and living with purpose.
I also spend time journaling, which helps me reflect, stay grounded, and keep perspective during busy seasons of life. The Bible and daily devotionals are an important part of my routine and help guide both my personal life and my work.
As a photographer, I believe creativity is fueled by continuous learning and inspiration. Whether it’s through faith based content, books, podcasts, or simply spending time with my family, I am always looking for ways to grow, connect with others, and become the best version of myself.
