Today we’d like to introduce you to Shannon Menchaca.
Hi Shannon, we’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
For over a decade, I was a domestic manager mom(At home mom lol). While it has been one of the most important and rewarding roles of my life, there were times when I felt lost in who I was outside of being a wife and mother.
I always knew I wanted to do something that served people—something that made others feel special, brought joy, or created meaningful moments. I just didn’t know what that would look like. Never in a million years did I think it would involve food!
One day, my daughter said to me, “Mom, I just want to stay home and cook and clean when I grow up like you.” Those words struck a chord deep within me. While I loved caring for my family and being present at home, I also wanted my girls to see that motherhood could exist alongside pursuing your own dreams and purpose.
So I began praying and asking God to help me use my talents to create something that was uniquely mine—something that would allow me to serve others while stepping outside of the role of “just mom.”
I’ve always been passionate about creating special moments for my family. Whether it was a picnic at the park or setting a beautiful dinner table on an ordinary weeknight, I’ve always believed that every moment should be an experience.
One day, a friend and I hosted a vision board party on a very, very small budget. I did what came naturally to me and created a charcuterie spread to elevate the food table. It made such an impact that people began asking if I could make one for their events. Before long, people were telling me, “You should sell these.”
At first, I didn’t see the value in it because creating beautiful food experiences was something I had always done naturally for my family. But my husband continually encouraged me to give it a try, reminding me that I had nothing to lose.
So I did.
I created a small charcuterie board in a heart-shaped tin from Dollar Tree, took a few clean photos, and posted them as a Valentine’s Day special. To my surprise, I sold out.
From there, I started creating boards whenever I had the opportunity—family gatherings, parties, events, and celebrations. I shared photos of my work online, and little by little customers began finding me.
Today, nearly three years later, JAW Charcuterie is more than a business. It’s the answer to a prayer. It has allowed me to create meaningful experiences for others, show my daughters what’s possible when you step out on faith, and prove to myself that it’s never too late to discover a new purpose.
We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
I wouldn’t say the road has been rocky, but it has definitely come with challenges. In the beginning, one of the biggest adjustments was learning how to balance running a business while still managing my responsibilities at home. Creating new routines and finding that rhythm took time.
If I’m being honest, my biggest obstacle has been myself. Learning to trust my gift, get out of my own head, and truly believe that I am enough and already have what I need to succeed.
It’s funny how you can create beautiful products, receive constant support and encouragement, and still find yourself wondering, “Is this enough?” I think a lot of entrepreneurs experience that feeling, especially when they’re stepping into something new.
What I’ve learned is that growth is uncomfortable. Every new level requires you to stretch beyond what feels familiar and safe. The same way I took a chance on myself in the beginning, I have to continue doing that now. I have to keep showing up, keep trusting God, and keep taking the next step—even when it feels uncomfortable.
So these days, my mindset is simple: JUST DO IT! That’s what got me started, and that’s what I’m continuing to do.
Thanks – so what else should our readers know about your work and what you’re currently focused on?
At JAW Charcuterie, we believe that every moment deserves to feel special. Whether it’s a date night at home, a baby shower, giving a gift to celebrate a milestone, a corporate meeting, or simply unwinding after a long week, our goal is to help people turn ordinary moments into memorable experiences.
We specialize in thoughtfully curated charcuterie boards, grazing tables, specialty cheeses, fresh fruits, and elevated gifting experiences that are as beautiful as they are delicious. Every detail is intentionally designed to create a sense of luxury, connection, and celebration.
What I’m most proud of is that my daughters get to witness who I am outside of being their mom. They see me building something from the ground up, creating for clients, serving at events, and pursuing a dream that once felt impossible. Even more special is when they get to work alongside me. Those moments remind me that this business is about more than charcuterie—it’s about legacy, faith, and showing them what’s possible when you step out and believe in yourself.
What sets JAW apart is that we’re not simply a charcuterie company—we’re a lifestyle brand centered around celebrating life’s moments, both big and small. While many people think of charcuterie for weddings, showers, and corporate events, we also believe luxury should be accessible in everyday life.
JAW is for the woman treating herself after a long week. It’s for the friend looking for a meaningful gift. It’s for the CEO showing appreciation to their team, the realtor welcoming a family into a new home, and the organization celebrating a milestone. We create experiences that help people slow down, connect, and celebrate the moments that matter.
Because at JAW Charcuterie, every day holds a reason to celebrate, and every occasion should be an experience.
Alright, so to wrap up, is there anything else you’d like to share with us?
If there’s one thing I’d want readers to take away from my story, it’s that it’s never too late to discover a new purpose for your life.
For a long time, I believed my greatest role was being a wife and mother, and while those roles are incredibly important to me, I’ve learned that God can continue to grow and stretch us in new ways during every season of life.
You don’t have to have everything figured out before you begin. I certainly didn’t. JAW Charcuterie started with a simple act of serving others and creating meaningful moments. What began as something I did naturally for my family became a business because I was willing to take a step of faith, even when I wasn’t completely confident.
I hope my story encourages other women—especially mothers—to trust the gifts they’ve been given. The things that come naturally to you may be the very things that can impact others in a meaningful way.
For me, success isn’t just about building a business. It’s about creating experiences that bring people together, making others feel seen and celebrated, and showing my daughters that it’s never too late to dream, grow, and pursue something that belongs to you.
