Today we’d like to introduce you to Sarah Mendoza Pujols.
Hi Sarah, thanks for sharing your story with us. To start, maybe you can tell our readers some of your backstory.
My desire to help others began at a very young age. I was always drawn to community service and became the friend people turned to for support, guidance, or simply a safe space to express themselves. That passion naturally led me into law enforcement, where I hoped to make a meaningful difference in people’s lives.
Throughout my career of more than 10 years, I served in various roles including Patrol Officer, Special Victims Unit Detective, Missing Person K9 Handler, and most recently Therapy K9 Handler. These experiences allowed me to assist people in critical moments of crisis and support our community through fundraising, outreach programs, and events that foster connection and trust. I take pride in showing the public the compassionate side of law enforcement that often isn’t highlighted.
However, I also recognized the limitations of the badge. We often address the immediate issue — the crisis in that moment — but don’t have the means or scope to dive deeper into the underlying emotional or psychological challenges people are facing. I witness how individuals, including fellow officers, continue to struggle internally despite external support, stuck in cycles of pain and stress without the tools to break free.
That realization ignited a new mission within me. I understood that helping others required going beyond the surface, and that’s how Múkaro was born. Múkaro is inspired by my Taíno heritage — “Múkaro” means owl — and represents wisdom, healing, and transformation. My journey into this new path began when a family member introduced me to a leadership program, which affirmed my lifelong values and opened the door to deep personal growth. From there, I immersed myself in self-development and energetic healing practices such as Reiki, emotional mastery, and coaching methodologies.
As I confronted and healed my own childhood trauma, limiting beliefs, and periods of depression, I experienced the profound shift that comes from true self-awareness. I rediscovered joy, purpose, and the beauty of being fully present in life.
Today, I am committed to guiding others through their own transformations — whether they are seeking emotional healing, personal growth, or clarity in pursuing their goals. My mission through Múkaro is to help people elevate from simply surviving to genuinely thriving.
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
This is such an interesting question, because the answer is both yes and no. In many ways, my path has felt remarkably smooth, as though every step was quietly waiting for me to arrive. The right people, healing modalities, and opportunities seemed to appear at the exact moment I needed them — almost like the universe encouraging me to “keep going.”
It all began when I said yes to a leadership program I didn’t fully understand. I trusted my family’s encouragement, and that single yes became a major turning point. Through that experience, I met someone who introduced me to Reiki. Again, without knowing exactly what it was, I said yes to the experience— and that yes opened another door.
Later, I said yes to attending a moon dance circle with my parents — not knowing where it was or what to expect — and that is where I met my Reiki Master. One yes after another continued to weave itself into a growing spider web of connections and purpose.
And within that web, I met my life coach — a pivotal moment in my journey. She helped me uncover limiting beliefs and childhood trauma that I had buried or dismissed. She became not only my coach, but my teacher and mentor, generously sharing her many years of experience in life coaching, hypnosis, Reiki, breathwork, neurolinguistics, sound healing, and so much more.
Thanks to her guidance — and the wisdom of the many teachers, mentors, and Masters I’ve encountered — the path has felt supported, aligned, and blessed with the right tools at the right times.
That is the smooth part of my path.
But growth also requires courage. The difficult part has been facing my inner world — confronting limiting beliefs and self-doubt, recognizing harmful patterns, and acknowledging emotional wounds shaped by childhood trauma. Seeing those patterns play out in my mind like a movie has been humbling and, at times, painful. There have been tears, resistance, and moments filled with uncertainty where I often times questioned myself.
Yet, that is exactly where true transformation lives.
Now, I move through life with a deeper awareness of my emotions, thoughts, and behaviors — and I have the tools and confidence to rise above old narratives. The journey is ongoing, but today I walk it with clarity, resilience, and profound gratitude for everyone who has supported me along the way.
Thanks – so what else should our readers know about your work and what you’re currently focused on?
As I mentioned, over the last decade, I have devoted my life to helping people through some of their most difficult and emotionally vulnerable moments. My years in law enforcement gave me a profound understanding of human struggle — crisis, grief, trauma, and the weight of overwhelming emotions. I witnessed how easily people can disconnect from themselves, falling into autopilot and merely surviving instead of truly living.
That realization sparked a new mission within me — to not just support individuals in moments of crisis, but to help them break the cycles that keep them there.
As a Mindset and Emotional Wellness Coach, I focus in identifying those emotions, patterns, behaviors, and limiting beliefs that are preventing you from achieving your goals in life. My integrative approach blends neuroscience-based coaching, hypnosis, and energy work, supporting change on every level: mental, emotional, physical, and energetic. I am dedicated to creating a compassionate and safe environment where clients feel deeply supported as they reconnect with their authentic self.
One of the qualities that truly sets me apart is my ability to hold space through even the most painful and traumatic experiences. Throughout my law enforcement career, I witnessed some of the harshest realities of life — death, suicide, sexual abuse, domestic violence, and situations many never imagine encountering. Because of this, I bring a unique level of emotional resilience, groundedness, and nonjudgmental presence. I can listen to any story, no matter how heavy, and help individuals explore new perspectives while feeling genuinely seen and supported.
This work is also personal to me. I know what it feels like to be stuck, disconnected, and unsure of who you are or where you’re going — and I’ve done the work to rise from that place. Because of that, I meet my clients with empathy, understanding, and zero judgment.
I am most proud of the transformations I get to witness — those powerful moments when clients realize they are no longer defined by the pain they once carried. Seeing them rediscover confidence, purpose, and joy is my greatest reward.
Through Múkaro, we guide individuals through personalized journeys of awareness and self-discovery. We recognize that transformation isn’t one-size-fits-all — every person is unique, and their path should reflect that. We provide personalized journeys while respecting every client believes and comfort levels. We walk beside them, offering tools, accountability, and unwavering support as they grow into the best version of themselves.
At Múkaro, our mission is simple:
To help people shift from simply surviving… to fully, consciously living.
Can you share something surprising about yourself?
Something surprising about me is just how many different hobbies and passions exist beyond my work. People often see the coach, the helper, the law enforcement professional — but I’m also an adventurer at heart. I feel most alive outdoors, whether I’m hiking, camping under the stars, exploring new places, or diving into the ocean to discover an entirely different world beneath the surface.
I’m also endlessly curious. I love learning — not just academically (though I did complete my master’s degree and still debate whether my next step is a second master’s or a PhD) — but also culturally and spiritually. I’m fascinated by new modalities, different belief systems, and the beauty of how each person and culture experiences life.
And then there’s my creative side — I love crafting, DIY projects, and anything that lets my imagination run free. There are moments when I’m covered in paint and glitter just as often as I’m holding space for emotional healing. I truly believe life is meant to be experienced fully, with joy, curiosity, and play.
I’m an open book because I believe our stories are meant to be shared. You never know when your journey will inspire someone, help them feel less alone, or remind them that being alive — right here, right now — is already a special occasion.
Honestly, there are so many surprising things about me that we’d probably need an entire article just to list them all. But that’s the beautiful part — we are all multidimensional, and I choose to embrace every version of who I am.
