Rising Stars: Meet Pheanie Brown of Lake Worth, FL

Today we’d like to introduce you to Pheanie Brown

Hi Pheanie, we’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
In the sunny heart of Palm Beach County, Florida, I have established Beyond Colors Event Planning and D’Core, a wedding and event planning business that transcended mere logistics. With a deep passion for bringing people together, I dedicated myself to crafting unforgettable experiences while embodying my faith. Each client became more than just a project; they are a unique story waiting to be told.

Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
Not at all! My first business shut down in 2012, and I lost everything. I returned to my true passion, but as time went on, the landscape changed dramatically. New technologies, marketing strategies, and the rise of social media made navigating the business much more challenging. This industry is not for the faint of heart. While I value community, the competition is fierce, and there are countless talented designers to contend with. The influx of new designers in 2020 presented yet another hurdle I had to adapt to. Each challenge has shaped my journey and strengthened my resolve.

Thanks – so what else should our readers know about your work and what you’re currently focused on?
I am an event designer but I specialize in weddings! Weddings are where my heart is. My experience of over 20 years definitely sets me apart. I’ve worked in just about every venue in Palm Beach County and have connections.

Can you talk to us about how you think about risk?
Yes, I’ve taken significant risks in my business, particularly through investments that haven’t always panned out. The nature of entrepreneurship is inherently unpredictable; business can fluctuate, and you often have to take calculated risks while hoping for the best. Collaborating with others in the industry also involves risk, as you can’t always predict the outcomes due to varying personalities and intentions. After experiencing disappointment, it can be challenging to trust new partnerships. However, I believe there are still many good-hearted individuals out there, and maintaining hope for positive collaborations is essential. Embracing risk is a crucial part of growth, even when it feels daunting.
