Rising Stars: Meet Oscar Sierra of Medellin, antioquia, colombia

Today we’d like to introduce you to Oscar Sierra.

Hi Oscar, we’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
I’m a 27-year-old who has been driven by two passions for as long as I can remember: electronic music and social media.

When I was younger, I spent hours watching videos of the world’s biggest DJs performing at Tomorrowland. For many people, those moments were just entertainment. For me, they were inspiration. I didn’t just dream of attending those festivals one day — I dreamed of being part of that world, of creating experiences that could move people, bring them together, and make them feel something unforgettable.

That vision stayed with me as I grew up. I decided to study Marketing Engineering, which gave me the strategic and creative foundation to start turning those dreams into something real. Over the past six years, I’ve built my path inside the electronic music industry step by step. I started as a brand ambassador, learning the scene from the ground up, understanding the culture, the audience, and the energy behind every event.

Eventually, that journey led me to create my own collective, producing electronic music events in Medellín designed to offer experiences people truly remember — nights where music, energy, and community come together.

At the same time, another important part of my story was unfolding. I began managing Cassablanca, a DJ originally from Bucaramanga. We started this journey from absolutely nothing — no big connections, no shortcuts — just belief, hard work, and a shared vision. Today, seeing how far we’ve come together is one of the things I’m most proud of.

Social media has also been a huge part of my journey. I always believed it could be more than just a platform — it could be a way to build a real community. I stayed consistent, sharing my lifestyle, my experiences, and honest reviews with my audience. Over time, that authenticity allowed me to connect with people and collaborate with multiple national brands as a content creator.

But the path hasn’t always been easy. There was a time when many people laughed when I said I wanted to become a content creator and organize events that could change the scene. At the time, those comments hurt. But instead of letting them stop me, they pushed me to keep going.

One of the biggest turning points in my life was moving to Medellín. This city changed everything for me. The people here opened doors, believed in me, and welcomed me with warmth and opportunity. Medellín didn’t just give me a place to live — it gave me a place to grow.

I know my journey is far from finished. I still have a long road ahead if I want to become one of the leading lifestyle and electronic music content creators. But when I look back, I feel proud of every step, every risk, and every challenge that brought me here.

Because at the end of the day, this story is about believing in something before anyone else does — and having the courage to keep building it until the world starts to see it too.

Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
It definitely hasn’t been an easy road. Along the way, I faced criticism and even mockery from people I once cared deeply about. There were moments when I knocked on doors looking for opportunities and was met with indifference, or even laughter.

I heard comments like, “You’re going to starve if you choose that path.” At times, it felt like many people didn’t believe in the vision I had for my life.

One of the biggest challenges was moving to a new city and starting my life from scratch. When I arrived in Medellín, I had no friends, no family, and no familiar faces around me. I had to build everything from the ground up.

But looking back, I’m incredibly grateful for every obstacle I faced — every rejection, every moment of doubt, every person who closed a door. Those experiences didn’t break me; they made me stronger and gave me even more determination to prove that my dreams were worth pursuing.

Appreciate you sharing that. What else should we know about what you do?
By profession, I’m a Marketing Engineer. Throughout my career, I’ve specialized and focused primarily on content creation and digital marketing.

Today, I’m involved in several projects, but they are all connected and aligned with the same vision: building a life around the things I’m passionate about. I currently serve as the Marketing Director for a multinational company in the international logistics industry. At the same time, I manage Cassablanca, a DJ project we’ve been developing from the ground up.

I also work as a booker for several electronic music DJs across Colombia and collaborate with clubs in Medellín to help them book talent for their events. In addition, I’m a brand ambassador for nationally recognized festival brands such as BAUM, Páramo, and Rebels.

Beyond that, I organize electronic music events and create UGC content for brands across the country.

You might wonder how I manage to do all of this. Honestly, my days don’t look like a typical office schedule. Some days can stretch up to 18 hours of work to keep everything moving forward — and I absolutely love it that way.

Being part of the electronic music scene has allowed me to truly discover myself. Through working with collectives, DJs, producers, and the incredible community of people who love this genre, I’ve built meaningful relationships and experiences that continue to shape my journey.

At the same time, I’m constantly working to improve the quality of the UGC content and videos I create, so that more brands can connect with my work and we can unlock the best potential together.

One of the things I’m most proud of is having the courage to leave my hometown and completely change my life from scratch. I moved forward without clinging to comfort zones, choosing instead to focus on my goals and the future I wanted to build.

I deeply love my family and the friends who have become family to me. But above all, I have learned to love and believe in myself enough to always fight for what truly represents me, without fear.

I’m someone who has a lot of love to give, and that love shows up in everything I do. It’s present in every video I create for brands, every event I produce, every booking I secure for my DJs, and every project I bring to life.

Because when you do things with genuine passion and love, they are meant to succeed. Always.

We’d love to hear about any fond memories you have from when you were growing up?
My parents always gave me everything. They spoiled me and made sure I had every gift I asked for. But beyond all of that, my best childhood memories are not about the things I received — they’re about the immense love my parents and my little sister gave me.

Some of my favorite memories are the simple ones: going out to eat together, laughing while watching a movie, just being a kid and feeling completely happy with nothing more than one of their hugs. That’s what truly meant everything to me.
