Today we’d like to introduce you to Nelson Gonzalez.
Hi Nelson, so excited to have you with us today. What can you tell us about your story?
I am Nelson Enrique González Prieto, a communications professional specialized in advertising and public relations, floral designer, educator, and event producer with more than 23 years of experience in the social and corporate events industry across Venezuela and the United States. Throughout my career, I have designed and produced more than 2,200 events, building a creative vision where flowers, lighting, textures, architectural elements, and décor work together to create immersive and emotionally driven experiences. My signature style is defined by contemporary aesthetics, non-traditional focal points, and visual storytelling that transforms every space into a memorable atmosphere.
I am the founder and creative director of [Evolution Eventos](https://eieventos.com?utm_source=chatgpt.com), a company specializing primarily in luxury weddings, social celebrations, and high-end corporate events throughout South Florida. From our Miami base, we have developed projects for clients in destinations such as Orlando, Tampa, Naples, Las Vegas, New York, New Jersey, and Los Angeles, producing everything from intimate celebrations to large-scale events with hundreds of guests. Our work focuses on customizing each experience through floral and decorative design, incorporating premium flowers imported from Ecuador, Colombia, Holland, and leading U.S. flower markets, combined with lighting, candles, furniture, structures, and carefully curated decorative elements that elevate each venue into a unique visual experience.
In cities such as Miami and Palm Beach, we frequently produce luxury waterfront weddings, multicultural celebrations, and sophisticated corporate events where contemporary tropical elegance plays a major role in our design identity. In New York and New Jersey, we have created workshops, floral installations, and private events with a more editorial and modern aesthetic, adapted to urban venues and historic spaces. In Los Angeles and Las Vegas, we have participated in both educational experiences and social events where floral design becomes more artistic and experiential, incorporating suspended structures, immersive installations, and avant-garde concepts. Each city brings a different inspiration, but our goal always remains the same: to create environments that communicate emotion, luxury, and personality.
In addition to event production, a significant part of my career has been dedicated to floral education and empowering the Latino community in the United States through creativity and entrepreneurship. In 2017, I founded Evolution Academy, an educational platform focused on teaching floral design for events, floral installations, structural mechanics, design principles, and business strategies for creatives in the floral industry. We have hosted workshops and master classes in Miami, New York, New Jersey, Orlando, and Los Angeles, helping train hundreds of students and entrepreneurs who are now actively working in the floral and events industry. Our educational philosophy combines creativity, technical knowledge, business structure, and artistic direction, allowing students to understand not only how to design with flowers, but also how to create high-value experiences and profitable businesses.
My professional background also includes experience in the media industry in Venezuela as a television reporter and producer, a stage of my career that strengthened my storytelling abilities and visual sensitivity. That combination of communication, public relations, and design has shaped the way I approach events — not simply as décor, but as carefully crafted visual narratives. I am also the author of the book 5 pasos para eventos exitosos, where I share methodologies and practical tools for successful event planning and production.
Throughout the years, I have received important recognition within the industry, including the “Social Media Superstar Award” presented by Intrigue Designs in 2020, as well as recognition in the floral competition “Stem Wars” alongside Myers Flowers. In 2026, I also have the honor of representing Venezuela at the Gateway To The Americas Cup 2026, one of the most prestigious floral design competitions in the Americas, where designers from different countries showcase creativity, technique, artistry, and sustainability through floral art. This opportunity represents not only a personal achievement, but also the chance to proudly represent the Latino community and demonstrate how our creativity continues to make an impact within the international floral and events industry.
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
One of the greatest challenges in my career came during the COVID-19 pandemic, when the events industry came to a complete stop. Weddings were postponed, corporate events were canceled, and the uncertainty forced many creative businesses to reinvent themselves. Instead of stopping, we adapted by strengthening our digital presence through [Evolution Eventos](https://eieventos.com?utm_source=chatgpt.com) and Evolution Academy, creating online workshops, educational content, and virtual floral design experiences that allowed us to connect with students and clients across the United States and Latin America.
At the same time, we shifted our focus toward intimate celebrations and highly personalized events, proving that meaningful experiences do not depend on size, but on emotion and intentional design. Social media became a powerful tool to share not only our finished work, but also the creative process behind it, helping us reach a much larger audience internationally. What began as one of the most difficult moments for the industry ultimately became an opportunity to innovate, expand our educational platform, and strengthen our connection with clients and creatives around the world.
Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
Our creative approach stands out because we see floral design as an artistic and emotional experience, not simply as decoration. At [Evolution Eventos](https://eieventos.com?utm_source=chatgpt.com), we incorporate handcrafted elements and handmade details such as woven textures, natural fibers, organic structures, and textile-inspired compositions that bring movement, texture, and personality to every design.
We focus on creating environments with a contemporary and editorial aesthetic, using non-traditional lines, lighting, organic materials, and unexpected focal points to transform spaces into memorable visual experiences. Rather than simply following trends, our goal is to develop designs with a unique identity, where flowers, art, and decorative elements work together to tell a distinctive story in every event.
We all have a different way of looking at and defining success. How do you define success?
For me, success goes far beyond creating visually stunning events. True success is having the opportunity to create jobs, inspire others, and build a creative team that can grow alongside us within this industry. It also means having the ability to work week after week with different cultures, stories, and projects, understanding that every celebration represents an important moment in someone’s life.
Through Evolution Eventos, I have learned that our work is not only about flowers or décor, but about creating visual memories that remain with people long after the event is over. Being able to transform emotions into experiences and seeing how a space can genuinely connect with people is one of the greatest rewards of this profession.
Success also means constantly evolving, staying creative, continuing to learn, and opening doors for other talents to grow within the events and floral design industry in the United States.
