Rising Stars: Meet Moses Pierre

Today we’d like to introduce you to Moses Pierre

Hi Moses, it’s an honor to have you on the platform. Thanks for taking the time to share your story with us – to start maybe you can share some of your backstory with our readers?
My name is Big Mo BITW. I’m an R&B & Latin Artist and Music Engineer. The BITW stands for “Best In The World.” I was born in North Miami, Florida. I am of Haitian descent from both mother and father. I started singing and learning how to make music around the age of 13. I have been perfecting my craft since and still growing. I’m also a self-engineer and have funded my own equipment’s for my own studio for my own sounds. I now have great teams and a couple of great people I can count on to help me in certain steps of the way. A lot I still have to manage and organize on my own but I’m not completely alone at all. I’ve ended up obtaining a fan base that stems across the world and especially from the Hispanic countries of Latin America. And I’m kind of TikTok famous with over 200,000 followers on TikTok. I speak three main languages which are English, Spanish, and Haitian creole. And I always have my saying “Don’t forget the memo, to believe in Big Mo, because that is the M.O.”

We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
There have been many years where I was working dead-end jobs that I hated. And towards my music I never had financial support from my family like the way I wanted. So every little money that I’d scrape up would go to a new equipment or a specific equipment upgrade. The biggest challenge was the fact that majority of my family, including my immediate family still doesn’t believe in me and sees me as some kind of bum. Despite my open display of how hard I’m willing to work for the sake of music and towards my brand. And despite how much I’m willing to sacrifice to achieve my dream. Although I’m more than grateful that my mother has come around to believe in me. I’d give the world and more to have the belief and support from my father and sister as well. But I’m never going to have it, and the pain still runs deep in my soul because of it. But I have to keep telling myself that it’s ok and I’m doing the right things and to keep working and to keep grinding, and to keep investing in myself and my brand. My other biggest obstacle was not being able to go to neither of my 4 dream schools I’ve always wanted to go to even though I got accepted by them. Which were Berklee College of Music, Art Institute, Full Sail University, and SAE Institute. Which is a reminder of my family not believing in me at the time especially my father. His information and his financial background would have been enough for me to have been financially accepted into any of these schools but he refused to be part of it because it was a vision that he refused to believe and still is to this day. Which that kind of stubbornness is what permanently damaged the relationship between him & I. And it was a relationship I wish didn’t get damaged at all. But I chose my dream, my goal, and my passion. Because by the end of the day, that’s my future.

Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know about your work?
I’m self-taught music engineer and an R&B & Latin Artist. And a self-engineered artist at that. I specialize in Pro Tools program and the Ceremony’s Melodyne program. Which as for Melodyne is a very high demand skill. And I taught myself. I also not only have a good knowledge of music theory, but I use to teach it back since the tail end of my high school. I’m most proud of the fact that I’ve gained so many fans from so many different countries. Especially with my corr fans being from Latin America and I’m a proud Haitian despite the fact that I’m a latin artist. I’m still relatively new to the latin music space but I’ve been really welcomed with open arms. And they really appreciate that I really am actually good in Spanish.

Any big plans?
I plan to continue to grow my name and my Big Mo BITW brand the best way I possibly can. I’m still learning how to organize everything but I’m doing ok so far. One of my biggest goal is to perform a concert in all the Hispanic countries across Latin America and Spain. I’m a big advocate on traveling so I’d love to visit as many countries as humanly possible. One of my most important plans is to raise awareness of being a black man especially of a perspective of a Haitian-descent. I’m so proud of the fact that I’m Haitian and I’m extremely proud of the history and the culture and the many hidden truths behind Haitian history. Because if it wasn’t for the Haitians, we would still be living our lives picking cotton with chained up taking whips today. And that includes Latin America as well. And I hope Latin America understands that it’s better to work together because whether you’re Latino, Afro-Latino, or Indigenous Latino, when it comes to black people and Caribbean people. Our ancestors had the same exact lifestyle, dealt with the same exact hell. And our ancestors were basically roommates I’m the same exact Concentration Camps. That is an awareness I hope to really spread because this fight is bigger than me.
