Today we’d like to introduce you to Masud Asante Mikeflo Aka Michael Flowers
Masud Asante , we appreciate you taking the time to share your story with us today. Where does your story begin?
I’ve been a lover, student and collector of music for as long as I can remember. I grew up in the deep soul driven city of Chicago in a house full of music from sun up til sundown. Music has been my guide and constant inspiration.
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
I’ve lived many lives and the roads have been exactly what they were supposed to be in those times. At times rocky and other times flowing like the waves of Miami Beach, but always moving and changing. Life is full of changes. It’s the only constant. I’ve embraced all of the roads along my journey. I’m thankful for every stop along the way.
Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your work?
I’m a life long artist. I’m a musician, painter, recording artist, writer, occasional model and just a maker and curator of things overall. I specialize in free and self determined honest expressions of my life and feelings through various mediums. As far as what sets me apart from others…I really don’t factor others truly. I’m too present in me today to put too much into what others have done or will do tomorrow. I do know that one thing I do have that I’ve witnessed some artists struggle with…and that’s the courage to do it and on my own terms.
In terms of your work and the industry, what are some of the changes you are expecting to see over the next five to ten years?
All of these industries are the same. The problem is that they are industries. Industries are for machines and bottom line monetization. Despite artificial intelligence and other human replacement technology, some things will never be duplicated nor replaced. The essence of the true artist will remain and hopefully provide needed commentary that represents the times.
