Rising Stars: Meet Liana Ross of New York

Today we’d like to introduce you to Liana Ross.

Hi Liana, we’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
When I went to therapy for the first time in High school, I was struggling. Finally being able to talk to someone who would understand me and listen was a big milestone. I realized I wanted to be that person for other people

I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
mainly smooth with definitely some bumps. after my graduate program, we are required to work 3000 hours and take a licensing exam. I am not a good test taker, and this exam wasnt the normal multiple choice. I hate to admit it but I took the test 6 times before passing. I’m so glad I didn’t give up and I didn’t get discouraged because I was definitely questioning whether this career was right for me and if I should pivot. I had to change my self talk surrounding the exam. this made a huge difference.

Thanks – so what else should our readers know about your work and what you’re currently focused on?
With extensive experience treating trauma, relationship challenges, body image and disordered eating, and addiction, I recognize that no two people are alike. Healing is not one-size-fits-all. Healing is about finding the right blend of approaches that meet you where you are. I’m trained in Solution-Focused Therapy, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), Motivational Interviewing, and Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR).

I also integrate Internal Family Systems (IFS) therapy, a powerful, compassionate approach that helps you understand and heal the “parts” of yourself that developed to protect you in moments of pain or fear. By bringing curiosity and care to those inner parts, IFS helps clients move from self-criticism to self-compassion, creating lasting change from the inside out.

Any advice for finding a mentor or networking in general?
