Rising Stars: Meet Lasheik Macon-Victor of Miami

Today we’d like to introduce you to Lasheik Macon-Victor.

Hi Lasheik, thanks for sharing your story with us. To start, maybe you can tell our readers some of your backstory.

My name is Lasheik Macon-Victor, I am a registered nurse/entrepreneur. I was born and raised in Miami, Florida. I had my first son at the age of 21 the year 2005 and I wasn’t financially stable . I was living with my son’s Dad and his parents at the time. After the birth of my first son I had to think of a plan fast to support him. I enrolled myself at National School of Technology, for the Medical Assistant diploma program when he was three weeks old. After eight months I graduated with my Medical Assistant diploma, and I started working at the Doctors office. The year 2011, I decided that I needed to enroll myself back in school and enrolled myself at Dade Medical College for the Nursing. After completing two years in 2013, I obtained my Associate science degree in nursing. I moved out of my son’s grandparents home and brought my first home in 2016. During that time I became pregnant with my second son and two years later in 2018 I gave birth to my third son. At the time I was working as a clinical staff nurse and in 2019 the COVID-19 pandemic hit us. When the world shut down and every business was closed. Healthcare workers such as myself still needed uniforms and scrubs. I had an idea and I created an online scrub store and started selling scrubs out of my house. I did very well, during that time, in 2022, I went ahead and opened up a store front named Lasheik scrubs. Things turned for the worst after four months in the store front the air conditioner went completely out and, the landlord management company didn’t want to cover the cost. I was stuck with a store front with no windows, no air conditioner and was forced to close. I couldn’t financially afford to have an air conditioner installed in the store front. I had put all my life savings into this store front. I was so depressed. I got evicted because I stopped paying the rent, due to the landlord not wanting to cover the cost for the air conditioner. I had to think about Plan B, so I decided to rebuild and create a company called scrubs on the go! I purchased an cargo van with shelves. and place my merchandise in the cargo van. Now customers , doctors office and hospital can book our mobile and shop conveniently and private. I also offer 1 hour delivery service within 1 hour after your purchase.

Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
No, It has not been a smooth road. I had to conquer being a mother and working full-time overnight and being a full-time Nursing Student. Working as a full time Nurse and straight from work to run my business and complete my online degree so that I may obtain my BSN, while working in my store front at time. The air conditioner going out of the store front within four months after opening. Being evicted from the store front. Starting my business over.

Appreciate you sharing that. What else should we know about what you do?
I’m a charge nurse in my department at work. I help train other employees and I’m proud to share my knowledge and skills from being employees with a company for the last eight teen years. I’m proud of being able to help others succeed and accomplish their goals within the company. The thing that sets me apart from others is that I share my experience,my accomplishments and my mistakes. So that others may learn from my mistakes what not to do from my past experience.

What has been the most important lesson you’ve learned along your journey?
Never be afraid to start over. In life there are lessons and you must learn from them to move on.
