Today we’d like to introduce you to Krystal Di Espada.
Hi Krystal, it’s an honor to have you on the platform. Thanks for taking the time to share your story with us – to start maybe you can share some of your backstory with our readers?
Music has always been at the heart of my life. I began singing and playing piano at a young age, and what started as a simple love for music evolved into a lifelong career in performance and education. Over the years, I’ve had the joy of performing in choirs, concerts, and church settings while also dedicating myself to teaching and inspiring others to discover their own musical potential. Today, my work blends performance, education, and creativity, allowing me to share the beauty of music and the connections it creates with others.
Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
It hasn’t always been a smooth road. Like many musicians and educators, I’ve faced seasons of uncertainty while balancing creativity, career, and family. One of the biggest challenges came when I became a mother. Adjusting to a new rhythm of life while continuing to teach, perform, and create was both beautiful and demanding. There were moments of exhaustion and self-doubt, but also incredible growth and perspective. Becoming a mother taught me patience, balance, and the value of slowing down while still pursuing my passions. Every challenge has ultimately deepened my love for music and strengthened my commitment to sharing it with others in meaningful ways.
Appreciate you sharing that. What else should we know about what you do?
I am the choral director at St. Mark’s Lutheran Church in Coral Gables, where I lead the choir in worship and performances. I am also a partner and teacher at Miami House of Creative Arts, specializing in classical and musical theatre voice as well as piano. I work with children and adults, helping them develop their skills, confidence, and love for music. I also perform and gig occasionally, which keeps me connected to the joy of making music on stage. I am most proud of the students I have mentored and watched grow, seeing them achieve milestones they once thought were impossible. I take great joy in inspiring a love for music and helping each student discover their own unique voice. What sets me apart is my holistic approach to music, blending individual instruction, mentorship, and performance while guiding students of all ages to grow in musical expression, creativity, and confidence.
So maybe we end on discussing what matters most to you and why?
What matters most to me is helping others discover and express themselves through music. Music has been such a guiding force in my own life, and being able to share that with students and audiences is incredibly meaningful. Seeing someone gain confidence, find their voice, or connect deeply with a piece of music reminds me why I do what I do. It is not just about technique or performance it is about nurturing creativity, building confidence, and creating moments that can inspire and stay with someone for a lifetime.
