Hi Keri, thanks for sharing your story with us. To start, maybe you can tell our readers some of your backstory.
I am the last child on both sides of my family I consider myself to be somewhat of a black sheep. Breaking Barriers are a collection of obstacles along the way. Breaking Barriers started off as a way for me to have a healthy outlet through writing. I always knew I had a story to tell because my life is such a movie.
I am where I am today because of overcoming my obstacles and fears. When I had every reason to throw in the towel I found that extra nudge through friends, colleagues & just “GRIT” Breaking Barriers is a way for me to help others find the courage to overcome
Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
No it has not been a smooth journey. along the way some of the struggles I have experienced have been unlearning cultural norms, religious traditions, being incarcerated, separation from my children, failed relationships & friendships. losing so much brought me back to focusing on myself and finding my purpose in the all natural handmade products I love to make. This process allows me to meditate clear my mind and do what comes naturally (create). Although it has been a rough start I am a positive thinker and look at obstacles without fear.
Thanks – so what else should our readers know about your work and what you’re currently focused on?
Ouuuu I wear many hats. I am a writer my book titled Breaking Barriers is a self help tool for finding the courage to push through and persevere. I am a licensed esthetician, certified spiritual life coach I like to manifest a goddess lifestyle so I create a line of body butter, creams, oils & more.
Can you talk to us a bit about happiness and what makes you happy?
I like experiencing new things. This makes me happy because I get to see different perspectives and apply myself to different situations and see what I can really accomplish. I feel my best when I’m in a healing space
