Rising Stars: Meet KC Chopz

Today we’d like to introduce you to KC Chopz.

KC, we appreciate you taking the time to share your story with us today. Where does your story begin?
I worked on the radio at Miami’s Power 96 for 8 years while coming up under 305 legend DJ Laz. Fast forward, I’ve built my name and brand into a powerhouse and staple in the Miami market, DJing 26 parties a month. I’ve DJed at the biggest nightclubs in Miami including LIV, Mr. Jones, DAER, and more listed below. I also host his podcast “Miami On The Rocks” which generates thousands of downloads weekly.

I’ve done interviews with a list of names like Kendrick Lamar, J Cole, Rick Ross, and more listed below. What sets me apart is as a Caucasian American I am fluent in Spanish, thanks to my Latin influence in my hometown Miami FL, and also moving to Medellin Colombia to study the language. I have videos speaking Spanish fluently with millions of views surprising the masses.

With this weapon in my arsenal, currently weaves my DJ skills between Latin and hip-hop parties. Saturday nights I play my 7-year residency at Brick, Wynwood’s biggest venue where I command the room with Hip-hop vibes, and the next morning I rock Miami’s biggest Latin brunch, Copper Blues with over 1k people playing 3 hours of Spanish.

I’m a DJ with a vibrant personality, not only will my style of mixing music keep you moving, but my crowd interaction on the microphone makes my performance a show and not background music like most are used to hearing from DJs. “Miami is a Caribbean melting pot where cultures blend and thrive, it’s made me who I am today, a man of love, respect, and integrity, and I want to bring that to the world.

Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
This business is full of rejection and heartbreak. It’s all about how you process the setbacks to motivate you to move forward.

Do you have any advice for those looking to network or find a mentor?
I think it’s important to find someone you look up to in your field and emulate them. Don’t necessarily copy, but use them as a source of inspiration for who you want to become.
