Today we’d like to introduce you to Kaymarie Daniel.
Hi Kaymarie, it’s an honor to have you on the platform. Thanks for taking the time to share your story with us – to start maybe you can share some of your backstory with our readers.
My business first started in Bequia, St. Vincent and the Grenadines and it took me a while to figure out my design aesthetic and who my target audience was. As soon as I figured that out, I was overcome with joy by the many responses. I’m not one to believe that anything good comes easily so I worked really hard and persevered. I like to believe my designs speak for themselves and my journey shows that.
My business took off throughout the Western Caribbean in such a great way and I decided that I am not going to settle for just that. I need to be international. I then traveled to Miami to go to Fashion School and took my business along with me. Knowing no one in the state, I made it my mission to make my mark and it has been very difficult, especially being in such a big country but I am determined, and I will definitely work towards getting my brand where it should be.
I’m sure you wouldn’t say it’s been obstacle free, but so far would you say the journey have been a fairly smooth road?
It most definitely hasn’t been a smooth road. Miami is a big state with a lot of people chasing the same dreams as I am so what could I possibly do to stand out? As mentioned earlier, not knowing anyone held me back immensely because I needed to get the word out there by mouth because social media advertisements weren’t doing enough.
I then realized the way I did things in the Caribbean wasn’t going to work here so I needed to figure out how they do it in America. I sent my pieces to a few social media influencers and that’s when the sales started coming in.
Appreciate you sharing that. What else should we know about what you do?
I am a Fashion Designer and I specialize in swimwear and beach apparel for both genders. I was recently asked to be a part of the Lynn Universities fashion show and the response was nothing I would’ve imagined.
What sets me apart from others is that I know my strengths and my weaknesses, and I work diligently on them and add my Caribbean aesthetic to my designs with their vibrant colors. Their silhouettes compliment every body shape, color, and race because I understand what exclusively feels like especially in the swimsuit world, and promised to rise above that.
Alright so before we go can you talk to us a bit about how people can work with you, collaborate with you or support you?
I am always happy to work with creatives and open my mind to new ideas. Anyone that’s interested in working with or supporting me can reach me through my website mariekays.com or through my Instagram @mariekay_
