Rising Stars: Meet Katie Mignacca of Fort Lauderdale/Wynwood

Today we’d like to introduce you to Katie Mignacca

Hi Katie, so excited to have you with us today. What can you tell us about your story?
I grew up in the quintessential Italian family. Sundays were spent in the kitchen with my grandmother, learning to make hand-made pasta’s and traditional Italian cuisine, including grandma’s famous meatballs, which you will see on our menu.

I grew my passion for food and Mediterranean culture while living in Florence, Italy.

By immersing in local experiences, from culinary classes to days spent in Tuscan vineyards, I truly learned to embrace La Dolce Vita. My mission is to now bring a taste of Europe to South Florida.

We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
I am beyond grateful for every step of the way, including the challenges. As a women in my early twenties, I often felt the pressure of securing a stable 9-5 desk job. The corporate life has never been for me, I have always felt the drive to dive into my entrepreneurial spirit and do more for myself and my community. Taking the leap to become a business owner and not have that stable 9-5 salary was terrifying. My mission of bringing the community together through food is what helped me overcome all of my self doubts and ultimately pushed me off the edge to really go for it and chase my dreams.

Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
We are a catering and private culinary experience service. We do both large events paring with local top luxury real estate agents catering for their multi-million dollar brokers opens to elevate the luxury experience for their guest, as well as preparing stunning hand crafted meals as we curate the perfect and unique menus for intimate family dinners, date nights, and holiday meals. While our entire menu is compressed of delicious food, we specialize in our charcuterie boards and handmade pastas. While we are proud of each dish we put out to our guest, the food really speaks for itself. What we are most proud of is what is most important to us, our family and our heritage. My family coming from a small costal Calabrian town of Amantea, Italy to now living out my own American dream of being a women business owner in my early twenties is something I will never take for granted. What sets us apart is my experience both growing up in the kitchen with my Italian Grandmother learning generations of passed down recipes as well as living in Italy myself, truly immersing myself in the lifestyle and culture.

Do you have recommendations for books, apps, blogs, etc?
I always love the cooking competition shows, such as top chef, chopped, hells kitchen etc… one day I aspire to win one of those shows. My grandmother also took the time to handmake me my very own cookbook with generations of family recipes. Whenever I need inspiration or need to get re-aligned and re-centered I find myself sitting down with a glass of wine scrolling the pages.
