Rising Stars: Meet Katie Clinebell of Miami / South Florida

Today we’d like to introduce you to Katie Clinebell.

Hi Katie, so excited to have you on the platform. So before we get into questions about your work-life, maybe you can bring our readers up to speed on your story and how you got to where you are today?
Five years ago, when I moved to South Florida, I didn’t know a single person. As a naturally social person craving deeper connections with other ambitious, growth-minded people, I decided to take a chance and post on Instagram asking if anyone wanted to meet up at Square Grouper. That simple post changed everything.

What started as a casual gathering quickly evolved into The Thread—a community built around meaningful connection. Since then, I’ve hosted monthly social experiences for young professionals across South Florida, creating spaces where authentic friendships, professional relationships, and even romantic connections can form naturally.

In January, we reimagined and relaunched The Thread with a renewed vision: to create elevated, immersive experiences that not only provide cultural value and memorable moments, but also make it easier for people to build genuine relationships in an increasingly disconnected world.

Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
Not at all. One of the biggest challenges was that I had no roadmap. The Thread started as a simple Instagram post and grew organically, so much of the journey has been learning through trial and error.

The biggest challenge has been staying true to the mission. It’s relatively easy to get people into a room, but creating an environment where meaningful connections actually happen is much harder. I’ve spent years refining the experience, listening to feedback, and continuously evolving the format to better serve the community.

On a personal level, building The Thread pushed me outside my comfort zone. It taught me resilience, leadership, and how to keep showing up even when outcomes are uncertain. Looking back, every setback forced me to become a better organizer, marketer, and community builder.

The biggest lesson I’ve learned is that meaningful communities aren’t built overnight. They require consistency, patience, and a genuine commitment to serving people. Five years later, seeing friendships, business partnerships, and relationships form because of something that started with a single Instagram post makes every challenge worthwhile.

Thanks – so what else should our readers know about your work and what you’re currently focused on?
Professionally, I work in healthcare marketing, where I lead educational and engagement initiatives that help physicians make informed treatment decisions for patients. My work sits at the intersection of strategy, content, events, and relationship-building, and I’ve spent my career translating complex information into experiences that inspire action.

Outside of my corporate career, I’m the founder of The Thread, a social community I built from the ground up in South Florida. What began as a simple Instagram post inviting strangers to meet for a drink has grown into a thriving community centered on meaningful connection. Today, I design and host elevated social experiences that bring together ambitious young professionals and make it easier for authentic friendships, professional relationships, and romantic connections to form naturally.

What I’m most proud of isn’t a specific event or milestone—it’s the impact. Over the years, I’ve watched people meet their closest friends, business partners, and significant others through something I created. In a world where many people feel disconnected despite being more digitally connected than ever, helping people find genuine community has become incredibly meaningful to me.

I think what sets me apart is my ability to blend strategy with human connection. I care deeply about creating experiences that are not only beautiful and memorable, but intentional. Whether I’m leading a healthcare initiative or designing a social event, I’m always asking the same question: How can I create something that genuinely improves people’s lives? That combination of creativity, empathy, and execution has become the common thread running through everything I do.

How do you define success?
Success is helping people preserve what matters—relationships, vision, beauty, faith, opportunity, and human connection—while building a life that reflects those same values.
