Rising Stars: Meet Kasey Jones of Lincoln Ne

Today we’d like to introduce you to Kasey Jones

Hi Kasey, so excited to have you with us today. What can you tell us about your story?
My name is Kasey Jones I am 19 years old and I am from Lincoln Nebraska. I have been working out for 4 years which originally started because of my dad when he got me some workout equipment to train for football. In early highschool I weighed 115lbs at 5′ 7 I was basically a twig. But I looked up to people like my dad, my brother, and the main characters from movies like terminator, batman, etc. In my eyes if they could do it there is no reason I couldn’t. I played poorly in sports because of my lack of confidence. The mindset I had about myself led me to not take the sport seriously, I didn’t try to get better, spoke negatively about the sport. One day at practice I heard a coach say “who was that guy” but not in the good way, after I ran a route. Then and there I decided I was going to quit and work fulltime during the summer. So that is what I decided to do. I continued to workout and focused my training on gaining weight and strength rather than athleticism. I started looking for ways to get better not only in the gym but as a person. I had a vision of who I wanted to be and what my life wanted to look like, which the way I look has a very small part in that. But the passion I had for the gym forced me to work harder than I was comfortable with, and eat a lot more than I did before, sacrifice time for bs. I had to constantly fight old habits, force feed myself, and make myself learn. As I overcame some of those problems more problems come, then I overcame those, but at some point if I were to quit working out, quit making meals consistently, and just sat around and did bare minimum, I simply would not be at where I am at in the gym without having faith. Eventually I learned this does not just apply to the gym but to everything in life. The moment you have the mindset you can’t, or its impossible, it is done and you have lost that opportunity. I am constantly learning and growing I am far from perfect. Some days I still struggle with my meals, or I had a bad workout, or just don’t feel good, etc. I train 5-6 a week and my current goal is 4-5 meals a day. I am training to compete sometime in the future.

I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
Gaining mass in the gym was my harderst problem to solve physically. Eating excessively has alway been an obstacle for me. As I have gotten older I have gotten better at this, it was just a matter of staying consistent. Making new foods or trying foods different styles made it easier. I stayed away from pre made shakes and mass gainers and stayed to real foods.
My Grandmother passed away when I was 18. My Grandma was named Margaret and she helped raise me my entire life. When she passed it really put life into perspective.
A lack of confidence. When I first started working out alone at a commercial gym I could not focus on what I was doing because all I would think about was what other people might be thinking about me. Which they probably were but whats it really matter. After I had good understanding of the basics of working out I didn’t care as much and I could enjoy the workout. Eventually I fell so in love with working out I realized I would have that much of a better workout if I didn’t care about what people think. After getting to a point where you didnt think you would in life because you tried is worth the price of overcoming the fear of what others think.

As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about what you do?
Right now I am a part time Insulator and I go to school for my associates in construction technology. I am really proud of the purpose and foundation I have created for myself. I think what sets me apart from others is I realize fear and failure is apart of the equation to success and constantly get back up regardless of the obstacle.

What sort of changes are you expecting over the next 5-10 years?
In the next 5-10 I see myself starting to make a name in the Bodybuilding industry. I plan to continue the construction route on the side for as long as possible. I plan to keep getting better and growing towards my potential.
