I am Jnyee Jackson, the Author of the Self-Help, Personal Development Memoir, If Not You, Then Who? Including “author” in my biography still blows my mind. Prior to embarking on the journey to becoming a visionary woman dedicated to sharing my story and guiding others along their own paths, I faced numerous challenges that demanded I turn lemons into lemonade, adapt, shift, change, and evolve. Being a living testament to resilience acquisition, I chose to pen my story, yet little did I anticipate its widespread distribution, with copies being sold nationally and internationally through renowned bookstores.
My journey involved learning to embody the finest rendition of myself while simultaneously tending to the numerous bruises from childhood that wounded my ego, self-love, self-acceptance, and much more. Regrettably, we’re not given the option to select the deck of cards life deals us. However, we do have the power to decide how we play our hand. The profound lesson I’ve gleaned about life is that it’s not about the abundance you possess but rather about initiating with what you have to shape it into what you desire.
And so, that’s where I began! I sat at a park, jotting down small bits of my book, unaware that they would evolve into a complete book four years later. Now, here I stand, crafting content for Fortune 500 companies, selling books, and innovatively investing in my ideas, for your greatest investment will forever be in yourself.
Being a visionary woman doesn’t imply perfection or a lack of challenges but rather entails inspiring others through your actions and words while also navigating your own path. Having millions of dollars, an extensive support system, meticulously planned goals, and a surplus of confidence weren’t included in my deck of cards. Nevertheless, I utilized the cards I was dealt to construct and persistently build the empire I aspired to attain.
We all face challenges, but would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
To all my writers, authors, creators, healers and inspirational leaders of the future, the journey was anything but smooth. To my aspiring writers and authors of the future, the journey was anything but smooth. Many believe that once you discover your life’s purpose, it will effortlessly fall into your lap, requiring no effort. However, this notion is far from true. It demands substantial inner work to embrace and uphold your life’s purpose.
When I initially began writing or entertained the idea, I didn’t have a novel in mind. I simply sought a space where I could freely express myself and release my thoughts, but that phase was short-lived. Two years later, while seated in my Bali Villa, I resolved to revisit and expand upon my initial endeavor.
Yet again, this effort was brief. It all felt so unfamiliar; a part of my wounded ego would whisper, “Who do you think you are to write a book?” However, my confident and empowered version countered, “Go for it. If not you, then who?” And just like that, my title emerged amid conflicting thoughts as I began to outline my book. A year later, just before committing to completing the chapters, I found myself amidst heartbreak, financial strain, struggling with anxiety and suicidal depression during a mental health crisis, and confronting some of the most formidable challenges life had thrown my way.
I had no idea how my book would be published, but I made the decision to wake up every single day and work towards completing it amidst the chaos. That’s when I realized that showing up for yourself isn’t always about sunshine and rainbows; it’s about showing up even on cloudy days. Your cloudy days may be when your best work is produced. Embrace every season of your life, for each one holds significant meaning on your life’s journey.
Amid life’s challenges, I could have chosen to stop. However, I kept repeating to myself: why halt at a point where I don’t want my story to conclude? Keep moving forward to witness the beautiful trajectory of how your story unfolds. Every story has its climax, but don’t stop there. Thus, I grabbed my pen and laptop, took a deep breath, and fought every day to complete my novel, knowing it could reach someone who needed to hear my voice the most.
Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
I’m a woman who wholeheartedly lives out my divine purpose, imperfect yet empowered, by inspiring fellow women to embrace their authentic selves, irrespective of societal norms, through crafting content in fashion, lifestyle, and beauty.
Certainly, I am a mental health advocate and newly published author specializing in self-help, personal growth and development, and memoirs. Establishing a virtual community where women from around the globe can come together to inspire, lead, and support one another. Additionally, organizing local events worldwide to unite communities through retreats, group therapy sessions, speaking engagements, and more.
I am the founder of a luxury women’s clothing brand that caters to all body types. We specialize in high-quality pieces designed to make you feel confident and bold. Although my brand is still in its infancy and has yet to launch, you are encouraged to follow my social media accounts to stay informed and updated.
The list doesn’t end there. As an innovator and visionary woman, I am committed to continually building the foundation of my empire through innovation and creativity.
What was your favorite childhood memory?
One of my cherished childhood memories revolves around spending vacations with my family. My grandparents often whisk me and my cousins away on trips to places like the beach or mountains. I recall feeling utterly carefree, spending hours in the pool without a worry in the world, with only school on the horizon as a responsibility.
Indulging in heaps of treats that my grandparents generously provided during our trips was a highlight. I have fond memories of spending hours playing games with my cousins, mastering the art of swimming, and watching my grandfather diligently filming us with his camcorder by the poolside. It wasn’t perfect, but reflecting on those years later, I wouldn’t change those moments for anything.
