Rising Stars: Meet Jenny Utrera of Miami / South Florida

Today we’d like to introduce you to Jenny Utrera.

Hi Jenny, thanks for sharing your story with us. To start, maybe you can tell our readers some of your backstory.
Loop Crochet Studio started with something simple: quality time between a mom and daughter. For as long as I can remember, I’ve always loved creating and working with my hands. Somehow, my daughter naturally carried that same creative spark. Over the years she made bracelets, helped create tie-dye shirts, and always seemed to be the creative genius behind every idea.

Then one day, she picked up crocheting — something I never learned myself. I’ve always been in awe of her. Watching her become everything I wished I could have been at her age: fearless, talented, creative, and gifted in ways that amaze me daily. I became completely obsessed with every piece she created.

Then came the purses… and that became my biggest obsession of all. As shy as she is, I looked at her creations and said, “We can sell these.”

What started as quality time together slowly turned into Loop Crochet Studio. A small business built from love, creativity, and believing in each other. Truthfully? She’s the boss. She’s the creative designer, the baddie behind every beautiful handmade piece, and the talent making these one-of-a-kind creations come to life.

I’m just a mom standing in awe of her daughter, cheering her on, and helping turn her gift into something bigger than we ever imagined.

From our hands to yours — thank you for being part of our story. #stayintheloop ✨

Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
Building this small business has been anything but smooth. There have been early mornings, long days, markets in the South Florida heat, and packing up in the middle of rain and wind. There have been slow days, discouraging moments, and times we questioned if people truly understand the time, effort, and heart behind something that is truly HAND MADE.

In a world of fast shipping and mass production, handmade is different. Every stitch takes time. Every piece has a story. Every bag has hours behind it — made by actual hands, with love and intention. Not everyone sees that, and not everyone understands it.

But somewhere between the heat, the exhaustion, the loading and unloading, and the “maybe next market” moments… we kept showing up. Because this became bigger than selling bags. It became time together. It became believing in a dream. It became watching a shy girl with incredible talent slowly build something beautiful.

So no, it hasn’t been smooth. Not even close. But every challenge, every lesson, and every small win has made us appreciate this journey even more. And we’re still here. Still creating. Still showing up. Still staying in the loop.

As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about what you do?
About Me – Mom

I’m a stay-at-home wife and had the privilege of being a full-time momma while raising my little humans. Being present for the everyday moments has always meant everything to me. I’ve always had a passion for the little things — taking pictures, capturing memories, and holding onto the moments I never want to forget. I’m the sentimental one, the heart behind the scenes, and the one running this household. Honestly… what would this family do without me?

I’m the cheerleader, the helper, the organizer, and the proud mom standing behind Loop every step of the way. Watching dreams grow — especially my daughter’s — has become one of my favorite things in life.

About Nelisa

Nelisa is currently a full-time student working toward her PhD in cancer research — beauty, brains, and talent all wrapped into one. She’s always been creative and sees the world a little differently. She loves yoga, little dogs, books, coffee shops, sunflowers, sunsets, sunrises, and all the small, beautiful things people often overlook.

She notices the quiet details most people miss, and that’s what sets her apart from your average girl. She has a gentle spirit, a creative mind, and the kind of talent that turns yarn into something special. She’s the designer, the maker, and the creative force behind every Loop piece.

And while she may be shy, her work speaks loudly.

How do you define success?
Success isn’t always measured by money, numbers, or how big something becomes. To us, success is simpler than that. If it makes you happy, if it brings you peace, if it calms the inner you — then you’ve already succeeded.

Success is creating something you love. It’s finding joy in the little moments, protecting your peace, and waking up excited for what’s next. If your heart feels full and your soul feels at home, that sounds like success to us.
