Today we’d like to introduce you to Jay West.
Hi Jay, thanks for sharing your story with us. To start, maybe you can tell our readers some of your backstory.
I am Jay West, the Crown Corrector, a voice for possibilities, a believer in transformation and a challenger of limits. My mission is simple: to help Women step into the life they were born to lead. I started a Women Empowerment Platform called, “Queen Up Movement in 2017 as I experienced 3 coexisting traumas that left me feeling angry, betrayed, disappointed, fearful and lost. These moments shook me to my core, and I was overwhelmed with frustration as I tried to figure it all out. When the people you love the most become like the enemy it is life changing. In the midst of my pain, God gave me a vision, to rise above what could have broken me and use my journey to help other Women. The term “Queen Up” is all about leveling up in every area of our lives. It speaks to boss up, stand up, pray up, listen up, marry up, dress up and more. This platform is dedicated to healing, growth, and transformation. A special part of this mission is supporting survivors of domestic violence, helping them to rediscover their strength and self-worth. What started as a path to healing has grown into a movement that uplifts, inspires, and reminds every Woman that no matter how heavy the Crown gets, she was born to wear it.
I am an event host for any type of event working mainly in Miami Dade County and Broward County, but I am willing to travel when the job calls for it. I produced a podcast on YouTube- Queen Up Chronicles TALK 1 highlights Black and Minority Owned businesses Worldwide. My motivation for this focus is to support people who may feel as if they are overlooked. Bringing awareness to the businesses helps the community, the business owner and brings job opportunity to many. I believe in us, and we are stronger together. Research has shown that the African American community are the ones contributing to the economy which basically translate to me that we are holding every other race down so tit only makes sense that we spend our hard-earned money where we can have the most impact and get the most appreciation.
I am a Master’s Life Coach, and I have a Master’s degree in Marriage and Family Therapy (MFT). I created 3 Card Games, one for Couples in Committed relationships or married, one for “Girl’s Night” and one for Teenagers to have dialogue with their Parents or anyone in the Parental role. I believe that strong lasting relationships are built on real conversations, shared moments and deep connection. Each game was designed with a purpose to bring people closer together, break down barriers and create a safe, judgment free space where honesty and vulnerability can thrive. Whether it’s helping couples rekindle their spark, giving friends a chance to bond and laugh on a deeper level and guiding teens through the challenges of growing up and understanding one another, these games are tools to strengthen relationships by encouraging meaningful dialogue so that when the hard conversation arise, everyone feels safe to speak, heard in truth and connected in a way that builds an unbreakable bond.
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
One of the greatest challenges I’ve faced in building “Queen Up Movement” is getting Women to feel safe enough to show up and truly open up about their painful experiences. Many hesitate to seek support because they don’t want others to know their personal struggles. They fear judgement, shame or being seen as weak. For some, the idea of sharing their truth or exposing their pain feels too vulnerable, especially when they’re battling feelings of hurt, betrayal, confusion and anger. I was just like them. The fear kept me in bondage, and I decided to set myself free by sharing my truth. By talking about it, it was a form of catharsis and allowed me to heal by creating a safe space, not only for myself but for other Women. Those who are living through or recovering from abusive relationships, speaking out can feel terrifying or even impossible. This barrier can make it difficult for Women to reach out for the help they need to reclaim their power. Nevertheless, I am here to straighten their Crowns.
Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
I am deeply committed to empowering Women and helping them transform their pain into power. Through my work in the Women Empowerment space, I create safe, uplifting environments where women can heal, grow and step into their purpose with confidence. As a Publish Author and Ghostwriter, I specialize in bringing real stories to life by helping individuals share their truth, their experiences and lessons in powerful nonfiction books that inspire and impact others. I addition to that, I serve as the CEO of Queen Up Media Group, a full-service media brokerage company that connects the dots to all thing’s media. Whether securing professional videographers and photographers, producing podcasts or creating impactful digital content, we provide the resources and creative support to bring any vision to life. As a Motivational Speaker, I use my real-life journey and voice to encourage others to rise above adversity, embrace their stories and pursue the life they deserve. Everything I do is rooted in the belief that our stories matter and when shared boldly, they can change lives. I am set apart because I’ve lived what I speak about and consider myself a Survivor.
As a five- time Published Author and holder of two Masters’ Degrees, my purpose is to inspire mental, spiritual and personal growth as I guide people through their pain towards healing. I use my voice, my words and my experiences to remind others no matter how hard life gets, every situation is temporary and within every struggle lies strength to rise again. It’s through love, resilience and understanding that we discover our true power and step boldly into the life we’re meant to live on our own terms.
As the Director of a non-profit organization- Queen Up Movement and Leadership Academy, I’m dedicated to empowering young ladies to recognize their value, embrace their value and build unshakeable self-esteem. Through this organization, I provide tangible resources, mentorship and life skills training designed to help them navigate challenges such as managing emotions, handling anger in a healthy way and developing confidence from the inside out.
Any advice for finding a mentor or networking in general?
Having a Mentor is one of the most powerful tools you can have on your journey both in life and in business. A Mentor offers more than just advice, they provide guidance, wisdom, accountability and perspective that can help you avoid costly mistakes and move with clarity and confidence. In most cases they’ve walked the path before you and their experience can become a blueprint for your growth. Alongside mentorship, networking is equally vital. Building genuine connections, opens door to new opportunities, collaborations, partnerships, and resources that you might never access on your own. It’s through these relationships that you learn, evolve and continue to innovate as your business expands. I wholeheartedly believe in the power of networking. I have an event coming up on November 15th, 5p-9p at Ocean Manor Resort in Ft. Lauderdale, Florida. It’s called, “PASS THE POWER” its a dynamic Women’s empowerment event designed to connect, uplift and amplify the voices of Women from every walk of life. Guided by the slogan, “There’s a seat for every Woman and a space for every voice.” This gathering creates an inclusive environment where each Woman is invited to share her story, present her business and speak openly about the support and resources she needs to grow. More than just a networking event, “PASS THE POWER” is about building a community where Women champion each other’s success.
