Today we’d like to introduce you to Irina Nikolaeva
Hi Irina, it’s an honor to have you on the platform. Thanks for taking the time to share your story with us – to start maybe you can share some of your backstory with our readers?
I have had the passion for design since I was a little child. I remember thumbing through interior design magazines in admiration and having all sorts of wild images coming to the young head of mine. My fantasies could not be stopped and I wanted to create something out of the ordinary.
I have a background in engineering and design and a master’s degree in architectural environmental design. Since graduating in 2017, my life has been dedicated to design. I am the founder and CEO of the interior design studio “World of Design”. I am an author of scientific articles, an academic expert in the field of design, an author and lecturer, a professional speaker at leading international conferences, a speaker on topics in the field of design, and a member of international associations.
My work is a source of inspiration for me. I personally speak with each client and do everything possible to achieve the desired goal: to create a presidential and exclusive interior design that would indicate the client’s expectations and fit into the space. When I see that my clients are satisfied with the result of my work, I understand that my efforts are not in vain.
Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
At the beginning of my career as a designer, I worked as a consultant in a store and looked at the designers who came, looking with interest at their work.
I realized that I also wanted to be a designer, I studied at the university and realized that I lacked knowledge and I moved on and collected more knowledge from all sources,
so in 2017 I became a successful interior designer, although I was very scared at the very beginning, I was worried a lot, I thought that I wouldn’t be able to work and take on projects, but during my work I managed to build a successful business in Russia, grow x5 in income, move to America and complete more than 200 projects, I became a professional in my field and my work is highly valued by clients
Appreciate you sharing that. What else should we know about what you do?
I am a founder and Chief Executive Officer of the interior design studio “Design World”. I am an author of scholarly articles, academic expert in the field of design, author and lecturer, professional speaker at numerous international conferences with reports on topics in the field.
I have many articles about me in interior design magazines and a member of the International Association of Interior Designers in America IIDA.
I wrote a book in 2023 called The Psychology of Design.This book provides a comprehensive study of the problem of the relationship between design and the psychology of human perception, based on an analysis of scientific works on the theory of architecture and design, psychology and psychophysiology. The analysis was carried out using an interpretive method of summarizing knowledge from various sciences influencing the development of design theory, using an empirical study of the relationship between the aesthetic organization of design and emotional perception.
Can you talk to us about how you think about risk?
Get out of your comfort zone and start working at your favorite job, live the way you want, develop, learn. I consider all this a risky act for a person. And I did it and I recommend it to everyone.
