Today we’d like to introduce you to Henderson Gonzalez.
Hi Henderson, please kick things off for us with an introduction to yourself and your story.
I am a self-taught pastry chef born in Venezuela, I arrived in this country six years ago. I worked for three years in the most important bakery in Disney World where I perfected and developed my skills as a pastry chef, today I am the owner of my own business dedicated to making cakes incredible and unique.
Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
It has not been an easy road, for me the language was my first great barrier, but I managed to overcome it, being in the company showed me that talent is worth more than any obstacle.
Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know about your work?
I think I can describe my work as artistic! pieces of art that you can eat, I am an architect and this has given me the facility to create cakes that defy gravity and logic, I am a specialist in 3D or carved cakes.
Can you talk to us a bit about the role of luck?
At first, the pandemic made me lose my job at Disney, but at the same time luckily I took advantage of this free time to grow my independent business.
